| My lovely wife got me the Sigma 100-300 f4 EX for father's day, and I'm trying to decide if I should keep it. Anyone have this lens or know the scoop on it? |

| Cool. If you don't want it you can mail it to me. I don't have a Dslr, but I'll take it anyway. As for father's day I just got an extra hug (we all forgot what day it was until late afternoon). |

I got a box of muffins for father's day. I would be happy to swap them for the lens if you not happy with it.

As to whether or not to keep it, I will make the call but wanted to get the insight of others as to this lens or recommended alternatives. |

Canon EF 100-400L may fit your needs, but it's about $1300 while the Sigma is about $800 or so.

It doesn't well on Fred Miranda's user reviews.
300mm @ f/4 is pretty handy for sports, and although inevitably slightly lower quality than the 300/4L IS, it will probably be a lot more useful for other subjects.

It's a crappy lens.
You may as well give it to your brother......:)
I'm thinking you'll probably keep it though. Pretty sharp pics I got with it whilst goofing around...even though I don't have any to post at the moment.
