If you have specific, concrete suggestions for improving the critique club experience, please post them here.

Suggestions (from Kavey): Allow critiquers, on a limited basis, to unassign a photo they requested in place of a different photo. This would be limited to not more than once for every 15 critiques completed.

My only suggestion:

Don't have the 'Request Critique' checkbox available during submission of the photo. Don't allow it to be active until at least midway through voting, preferably not until afterwards. This would have people only choosing it if they felt the other comments during voting didn't help/justify its score.

I second the suggestion about allowing an occaisional "skip". I'm afraid to click that assign button till all those creepy crawlies have been doled out to someone else.

I think a 'skip' function would keep the 'creepy crawlies' from getting critique and they probably need it the most...

My main criticism (and the one I hear from others) is "I'm not getting any critiques".

I realise the current approach is "those in the club are critiqued first" and I understand the logic behind this but it means the chances of those not in the club receiving anything are very slim.

Personally I think some kind of ageing function would be good - the first to receive a critique is the person who hasn't had one for the longest time.

Also, I agree with the "skip" button in as much as sometimes I just struggle on a certain photo - it's hard to explain, and I guess it helps by "having" to critique it but I wonder if I give a good critique on those photo's.

Finally, I send a message to each photographer after doing a critique - perhaps a button to automate this would be good?

Beyond that I'd just say keep up the good work. I believe it's a good concept, and I joined to help others and myself..

Ah, but as it is, No one in Fauna is getting a critique from me because I don't want to look at that big orange snake. I only mean the REALLY creepy crawlies.

My 2 cents worth. I think that a different approach to the selection of pictures for critiqueing needs to be established. Maybe something along the lines of those pictures that place at designated positions, could always get a critique. Like every tenth spot or so, that would spread the critiques out through the complete challenge. To give anybody else the opportunity for a special critique, they could have the option of requesting one after the challenge. The comments that were recieved during voting may have an influence on their decision about wanting/needing a critique or not.
All of the critiques that I have recieved have been very well done and completely appreciated. I always ask for one when I submit, but if I truely evaluated some of my entries I would come to realize that I shouldn't have expected someone else to waste their valuable time on them. So I ask the photographers to use some discresion when they click the "I want a critique button", I know I will in the future.

I don't think a skip function would stop the "creepy crawlies" getting critiqued - there are enough people who don't mind them at all.

The point is that the critiquers are all different people and it's likely that the occasional photo that we really don't want to critique will not be the same photos as others want to skip.

Those who don't like the idea of the skip button could simply choose never to use it. Those of us who would, very occasionally, like to use such a feature, would be more likely to continue critiqueing with it's implementation.
