Hi guys, I've been looking at this site for a while, and I enjoy it thoroughly. I bought a Canon A70 recently, but I've yet to take a 'great' shot, mostly snapshots for now. I am a member of www.Worth1000.com, who have a photography contest, but I've entered all my past portfolio stuff only. I am running out of stock, and it's come time to actually take quality work. The talent on this site is very intimidating, but I have a good idea for the glass challenge, hopefully I'll have time to take it. I don't know how you manage to take these amazing shots in such a small timeframe.

I just wanted to say hello, and I cross my fingers that I can take a decent shot in time. :)

p.s. I don't know if this is allowed, but you can see my portfolio at phantazmo.smugmug.com

Welcome, jump right in. I took a quick glance at your other stuff...you have nothing to fear here. Just remember that you won't please everyone, so submit something you like and see what folks think.

Don't be intimidated - there are plenty of us struggling along at the average mark. :-)

I find the talent here intimidating too, but I have found that I have the most personal satisfaction when I proceed with my long term goals of (1) trying new things, (2) seeing what others do well and then try to capitalize on these wonderful examples, and (3) posting shots that I personally like.

I'll emphasize point (2)! I have learned much by browsing others' photography and then asking myself (or them) "How did Natasha get that lighting just right?" or "What my picture needs is the kind of mood that Scab-Lab creates for his shots!" And then I study their photos like heck! Now THAT's fun! Oddly enough, most of the shots that I study are NOT ribbon winners, but they are sure great photos!

Hey Taz, good to see another Worthian! You need to take a few days off of work and enter a challenge or two.
