Remember the Decision challenge? Why is it that almost 90% of the photographs were images of choices, not decisions?

de·ci·sion Audio pronunciation of "decision" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (d-szhn)
n.

1. The passing of judgment on an issue under consideration.
2. The act of reaching a conclusion or making up one's mind.
3. A conclusion or judgment reached or pronounced; a verdict.
4. Firmness of character or action; determination.
5. Sports. A victory won on points in boxing when no knockout has occurred or in wrestling when no fall has occurred.
6. Baseball. A win or loss accorded to a pitcher: has four wins in six decisions.

choice Audio pronunciation of "choice" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (chois)
n.

1. The act of choosing; selection.
2. The power, right, or liberty to choose; option.
3. One that is chosen.
4. A number or variety from which to choose: a wide choice of styles and colors.
5. The best or most preferable part.
6. Care in choosing.
7. An alternative.

Now go look at the results. The 1st place image and almost 90% of the images are photographs of a choice, not a decision. ???

decisions??

if the 1st place image were a decision, it would be titled "I stayed", or "I went". ???

if "Dilemma" were a decision, there would be a hand grasping for one of the particular ties.

With a choice comes possibility.
With a decision comes commitment.

:P

A picture of a bunch of possibilities is not a decision.

I agree, that is why I went to a lot trouble to make sure my entry was about a decision, not just a choice. However, at this point, it is a mute point, so, let it go.

Okay, people chose to portray in their photos the act of making a decision which is "choosing". Who are you to say that is not a decision? They showed the act of, and left the viewer to make the decision. Go deeper than yourself, it is a wonderful world ;)

I agree with you. But on second thoughts, we make a decision by selecting one from the available choices. So choices are 'probable decisions' ;-)
