Lets see the shots were a fraction of a second makes the shot.... Give
us some background info on the shot.

Here is my oldest son washing the soap out of my youngest son's hair.
(I timed it to get the water hat but did not think I got it in my three
try’s.....Tried for this but Luck WAS a factor!)

derf you need to place a small thumbnail with a link to the picture.
This is too large for the forums. Dial up ppl can't take it.

If you join DPC you can them in your porfilio. :)
Cute kids and bath shots are always a classic. Will be great for when they start to date!!

Nice shot, Derf! I like how the water crown's the babies head.

Well, I think most photographs are taken in a fraction of a second (unless it is a long exposure), so I'm not quite sure what your trying to get at.
But I will give you a shot that was kind of a "spur of the moment shot" (cause maybe that is what you mean):

Saw this seagull come cruising and landed in those rocks in the middle, I was wondering what it was doing (fishing/looking for food I presume), because huge waves were rolling through there. So it landed down there and a huge wave came in and that when I captured this.

I was quite chuffed with my timing for this shot:

Another water splash

A Fisherman in the process of pulling a fish out of the water at
precisely the same moment I hit the shutter trying to capture the wave.

The only shot I took of the lady. I like the way she is walking and looking at the big picture.

Have you seen this thread? lots of interesting photos there

Edit: what the heck, i'll repost one of my shots from that thread here:

(extra exposure never hurts, except when taking the picture :) )

I have posted this photo in a couple of different threads.

It definitely fits the topic for this one.

This was my son's first time in the big bathtub after graduating from his infant tub, my husband was sitting off to the side and I was snapping away like any proud camera happy mom would, I actually didn't notice the "fountain" until after I took this and looked at it in the display window, I know he'll hate me for this one someday lol but I think it's hilarious, I just love the look on his face!

Most of mine involve splashing water, but here's a different one -- this was my alternate for the Naturally Framed challenge. The crow was not in the field of view for long.

My curious little persian kitty, eats anything, but who knows what made him pull this expression! Caught in a flurry of shots, working my D70's 4fps to the max ;-)

I like to think this was perfect timing. In this picture she was out of the car window when she saw me coming with my camera and quickly jumped back in but I managed to not only catch her halfway, which I think turned out better than a full face portrait, but her tounge sticking out as well.

How about catching the "four up" moment in a horse's stride?

I might never top this moment (though it was taken with a little film camera in 1999). She was actually clapping, and I got it just right. ;-)

Most sports photos involve a certain amount of timing and, of course, luck. Here are a few soccor shots I took at a recent 250 team tourney. More, and larger files can be seen here

Took some timing on this one... Used a Cable Release.

Timing or luck? How many time will you actually see a bird making his drop in flight... few times people felt it, some seen it, but actually capturing it... Potluck I must say!
