I have a song in my head which I have no idea what it is or who it's by. The only part I can remember is the tune, no words at all (not even sure if it has words)

Ok, all I can think of is the chorus which is 'Do-wah do-wah, ooh ohh,..'

That's it :D

Probably says a word, but to me it sounds like 'do-aah do-aah'

The only other thing I think it's late 60's early 70's and is used in many Vietnam films.

I have searched for hours and have no idea what it is so if anyone has a suggestion feel free to add it :D

It isn't do wah diddy by the way :D

Well I can hear that tune in my head but cannot come up with the title. At first I thought it was The Chiffons singing He's So Fine.

Here is the Chiffons song I was thinking of

There are a few versions of it so it could be the one. They just don't do the he's so pretty part. But I can hear that version in my head.

Reminds of when I worked in a bookstore and people would come in and say, "I'm looking for a particular book. I don't know the title or author, but it is about yay big and blue."

Always got a kick out of their expression when I would find it for them. (It was a conference center bookstore, and I would have had several requests before they got in there)

Back to the topic -- I have absolutely no idea,

When my brothers and I were young in the 60s, we would tell my mother what 45 discs we wanted and she would go into a record shop in London to buy them. Unfortunately she had a terrible memory for titles so she would stand in the middle of the shop and sing the tune to "la,la,la" until the assistants recognised it! Perhaps I ought to give Jonopink her phone number and they could sing together!!!

You needed On The Tip Of Your Tongue by Irene M. Franck. ISBN 0-451-16281-1 (Paperback)

I found my copy in a thrift store for 25 cents : )

I might be able to help more with the music if I had functional sound on my computer : (

Do wah do wah so so pretty
Talk about the boy from New York City
sung by males as the back-up

He's so fine
Wish he were mine
ba da da da da da da da da da (can't remember the words)
Yeah he's the most
From coast to coast
ba da da da da da da da da da (can't remember the words)

This one? This has also been sung opposite - female back-up, male lead:
Talk about the girl from New York City..
She's so fine
wish she were mine
blah blah blah

Thanks! I have had these two tunes (Chiffons He's so fine and this one) running through my head the whole time I mowed the lawn this afternoon. I think the one you want is the this one in this post and I don't know the name but rgo had the best idea - if you know the movie just look up the score.

Edits: typos cause I try and type as fast as I think and it makes for some very interesting nonsense

I'm surprised no one ever offered her a record contract. Unless, perhaps, the ability to sing a tune recognizably makes her over-qualified ...

OOoo meow!

Mind you this WAS the 60's in London so there was a lot of competition from a few others. She is 82 now and still loves music from 60s and 70s and sings along to CDs. :)

Good for both of you -- congratulations! It wouldn't surprise me a bit if that singing isn't helping keep her healthy.
