Thank you everyone, for the wonderful comments on my Shadow Play picture. It is always special to get a ribbon and this week it has been a bright spot in an otherwise very sad time.

My father, who is also a member of DPC - SamT- passed away on the 28th of May. He had been coughing for a long time and wouldn't go to the doctor. My Mom (Tressider) finally got him to the doctor on May 19th. He had a massive tumor in his lung and was put in the hospital instantly and went downhill very fast. He had been alert and even eating well until the Sunday I took the picture of the dunes. Mom called that evening and said he had been put on a respirator as he suddenly couldn't breath on his own. I and my sisters and brother managed to get to Butte before he passed away and we were all with him when he died.

Talking about how much Dad enjoyed DPC has been one of the happy things that has made all of this more bearable for all of us. Dad really did enjoy DPC so much. We are going to print out some of his pictures from DPC to put up at his Wake/Visitation on Friday evening, he was so proud of them. The services had to wait waiting for other family members to get into Butte.

So thank you all very much. DPC has been one of the bright spots for all of my family this week.

Sammie I'm so sorry for your families loss. Please accept my sympathies and my prayers are with you. Hard.

I know how it stings. My mom passed away on the 20th. I think I'm just now coming out of the 'fog'.

All the best to you.

Sammie, I'm so sorry for your loss. It's really lovely to hear how much he enjoyed DPC and that it was something you could share as a family. I'm also so glad you were able to be with him as he left this life.

I can't imagine how painful it must be but I've just reviewed his images and isn't it lovely to think that people can continue to gain enjoyment from what he created?

Another dear friend of mine and DPCer lost his father only two days before you did after a completely unexpected brain hemaorraghe a few days previously. :o(

Very sorry for your loss, Sammie.
I lost my dad many years ago and remember the pain well.
I just reviewed your dad and mom's portfolio's and reflected on how much joy it must have brought to him (and her)to share images and DPC with you.

I'm always at a loss for words at times like this Sammie, and have little to offer other than to say I'm sorry to hear of your loss and that if I was there, I'd offer you a shoulder to lean on and box of tissues to share.

Sam's passing is a loss for us all. His "Two Story Outhouse" was immediately marked as one of my favorites in the Humor II challenge. I know your loss is profound and our prayers are with you.

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. It sounds like you have a close family, which is really a blessing. I know you'll miss him, but I'm glad you were able to share so much with him while he was alive. My prayers go out to you and to your family.

This really tugs at the heartstrings..my heart goes out to you and your mother. Your father's images are wonderful and a great remembrance of his talent as a photographer. Nice that you all had that common link as a family.

So sorry for your loss, Sammie. With his sense of humor I think he and I would've gotten along pretty well. He will be missed for sure!

Hugs from me as well.

Do you think he was just trying to increase your chances of getting a ribbon?
: )

Sorry, just trying to cheer you up - lost my Mum to cancer (she was 58), and my business partner to asthma (he was 27) so I really understand your sadness. Hope your heart is mended soon and you can look back on his life with some laughter soon enough.

Sorry for your loss. Glad that you and your parents were able to share a common interest. He had a critical eye and I like his work.

Oh Sammie, I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. I got a kick out of his two story outhouse picture: it's a great idea to put up the pictures at his wake, so many of them were really good. At least he had a loving family and enjoyed DPC, what more could anyone ask in life? A sense of humor will get you through even the worst times..love to you , Marion

I had forgotten. I remember smiling when I saw this shot during voting. It is a tribute that his photos will be remebered. Sorry for your loss Sammie.

Oh, my dear Sammie, I am so grieved to hear of this. It is one of the hardest parts of this time of our lives - our parents declining and leaving us. I am here any time for you - you know that. I am glad DPC was blessed with him and by him while he was with us. He is just a little further ahead of us now.
