I am totally amazed that people can't follow simple instuctions...
'Photograph something that represents your corner of the world. This can be anything as small as something in your bedroom, to something as large as a city or state landmark.'Maybe somebody could list photos that comply so I can vote.

In my opinion, they all meet the challenge requirements... but how well they meet the challenge is one of the things that help determine my votes :o)

Don't forget that the blurb in the challenge details is a guideline (in this case), so keep an open mind... or just vote how you want...

Well, I believe the whole idea behind this weeks challenge was to give folks here a chance to share what their part of the world was like.

Maybe its centered around their room at college, maybe they live on some tropical island. They might live in a big city, or maybe they "live" at their office. Maybe they restrict their world to a hobby obsession...whatever.

I think if you can get a feel for a person behind that photo and their view of their "world" then the challenge is met. This challenge is pretty open ended but it seems no matter how open ended we leave challenges (barring a totally open challenge) people want to restrict the challenge narrowly. :-/

I think that pictures that only show some leaves don't comply to this challenge. It's doesn't tell me anything about that person or the places where he/she lives.

The color of the leaves might say "Its fall here"...or its less developed than a big city. But I agree...this challenge does encourage (but is not completely limited to) a more detailed photo than just a macro or whatever to give you a glimpse of their part of the world..unless they are a bug maybe? But a photo of a single building ..(no matter how well known) or a generic sunset..leaves me just as cold sometimes..so who's to say?

Even if its just a leaf or a building or a sunset..if the photo is excellent I'll still give it a 5 or so......

I think all photos comply...my only beef is the title of the images. A picture of leaves with a title 'Leaves' will get a lower vote from me, but a picture of 'Leaves' with a title 'Leaves from beautiful Wawa, Ontario' would get a better vote...

I wished everyone was forced to put a location in the title for this challenge. It would have been neat to know and see where everyone is from.

Overall, I see alot of great photos and I have not given nearly as many low votes as the last challenge. Now, if only people would comment on mine...

What totally amazes me is that everyone here doesn't view things the same way I do... go figger...

Meaning no disrespect ot offense, I'd like to suggest you check out This Thread of the forums. It may enlighten you as to why you don't see how everyone else could follow the same instructions as you and yet end up taking a different picture :)

Is this a Writing Contest where voters also vote on the titles???? Tastes sure differ: I find Leaves leaving more room for the imagination than Leaves from beautiful Wawa, Ontario. The latter strikes me as a dime a dozen postcard title. Also, the Leaves submitter probably wanted to remain anonymous.
After the contest, you will have a chance to combine pictures with names and know where everybody is from.

You are right,Journey---it's not a writing contest. However,IMO,a title and a theme mean something. If the whole idea was to just take a picture of anything, then it should have been just a free shoot.I don't see what leaves would have to do with anyone's corner of the world unless he lived in a tree. ;-)

Hmmmmm I can think of two places where a leaf is the recognized symble for that place; Canada and Vermont.

Oh and I couldn't find one titled just Leaves?
