Here are a few pictures I took recently in the Chiquitania area of Eastern Bolivia. Comments and critiques are welcome.

I like them, particularly the 3rd in the series. The subject's face is in the shadows too much in the first two. Overall there seems to be a cool color cast on all four.

Very nice colors and detail! I think if you composed these off center they'd be a bit more interesting, though. Also, for portraits, a blurred background is more appropriate. Open up your lens and have your subjects step away from the wall. For the head-to-toe ones, have them at least 12 feet away for some detectable bokeh. On another note, the last one seems to be over-sharpened, the little boy's hair is too black.

I love your photos...I agree with the off-center. you could have done this by using something interesting to the right or left and have them stand closer to it. A tree, or a huge vase, steps, or something.

Otherwise I love both images. The little boy close-up is photojournalism quality.

His standing would have been better if he was sitting against the wall, as it is too posed looking.

I actually like the old lady better :) Sure the boy's cute, but the eyes are weird and he looks a bit awkward. Where as the old lady is an extreamly interesting subject. The way she stands and carries herself, holding her scarf with that almost child like smile, adding the white dress to this posture is just the dot over the I! :)

On the other hand, although I love the subject you could have done alot better (atleast that's what your portfolio tells me ;)) hehe! You were probly going for a low key natural lighting, but although I like having shadows I feel that these are a bit to dark, making the eyes look "less" then they should. Also I think a tighter crop would help that shot (i'm still talking about the lady :) ), focusing on her lines and adding a bit of structure to the photograph (it's a bit "in the middle")

good job though overall :)

Thanks for all the constructive thoughtful comments. I will work on many of these suggestions.
