With the upcoming Silhouetts challenge, I need to figure out how to spot meter with this camera. I can find nothing in the manual that says how to set it for spot metering!!!!! PLEASE HELP.

I don't believe you have spot metering.

Is the 300D the same metering as the 20D? Partial Metering is 9% of the center area and is darn near spot metering...works well for me when needed.

You don't really need to set spot metering to get an accurate reading on one point. Set your focus point to the center focus square - then use AE lock to meter on the brightest area of your picture using the center focus square. Now recompose and focus on the object you wish to silhouette and take the picture.
