you can do it the hard way or the easy way...

the hard way: photoshop. create a new document, then open an image you want to include in the collage. drag it off the layers pallete onto the new docuement. move it, size it, do whatever. keep doing this until you have all your images how you want them.

the easy way: fotofusion. it has pros and cons, but for me, the pros far outweighed the cons, and i have been more than happy with it.

A way to make it easier in photoshop is to create a template.

how do you create a template on photoshop?

What your actually doing when creating a template is masking out areas of a page for different size images. When I get home tonite I'll dig out the steps and post them. (unless someone else beats me to it)

An anecdote of some sort that goes with the story the images are representing. A poem might even work.

What's the intended output? Print? Web?

The background page colour works with the exception of the blue in the bottom right. The placement of the images looks balanced. Adding a poem on the left I think would work really well.

If you're creating a scrapbook you may want to create a template for lefthand and righthand pages.

Thanks for the hint, skiprow! I just downloaded the trial version, had a play with it, and love it.
Now I know what to ask for from my girls for Mother's Day :-)
