I'm a fairly recent Firefox convert so I thought it'd be interesting to share what plugins and extensions people use since there are so many and likely some that I desperately need and am missing.

Here are the ones I'm currently using:

FireFTP - an ftp client that works right in the browser. All my love went to this until I discovered Tango DropBox which isn't for Firefox but is lovely anyway.
ColorZilla - an eyedropper tool for selecting colors on websites, also measures distances between two things. Nice if you're doing web/graphic design
Adblock - pretty self explanatory
Mozilla Archive Format - lets you save webpages in archive format like you can in IE
MapIt - select and right click on an address and you can open a map in MapIt
Calendar - based on iCal. Love this one too.
Forecast Fox - puts tiny weather icons in the bottom righthand side of the browser with little popups when the weather changes.
Greasemonkey - lets you add scripts to websites to change things.
DownThemAll - lets you download all links or images on a page or select which ones you want and download with one click
IEView - lets you view a page in IE with a right click or select a site to be always viewed with IE.
LiveJournal Hook - has all the weird codes for LJ in the right click menu (but only on the LJ site). I haven't used this one much yet.
BetterSearch - adds things to search results like thumbnail previews, open in new window, wayback machine and about this site.

Adblock, Adblock and Adblock: you use it every time you load a page without even knowing, and it's GREAT!
Imagezoom and Colorzilla: to scrutinize pics.
Dictionarysearch and Spellbound: English isn't my mother tongue, so those two always come handy.
Mini-T, FLST, Tab Clicking Options: a few about tabs behaviour.
Reload Every: an automatic reload button.
Smiley Extra: Thanks to BradP for this one

Carlos.

Some nice extensions there I'll investigate those I don't know :)

You juat HAVE to check out "Linky"!!!

Uual right click interface but for example you can:

Open all images (just the images) on a page in a single tab, or one image per tab

Same with the links on a page.

Even better ... open all image links in their own tab (perfect for expanding thumbnails.

For instance, I see a photographic web sire, 50 thumbnails:

If the thumbs link direct to the pic, rather than a web page displaying them, with one click I can view ALL the original photos full sized. If the thumbs link to a web page with the image same deal. except open each page in a tab.

Gives you a list of links/images you are about to open so you can unselct those you do not want (for instance here at DPC you might unselect the links that are part of the navigation of the site.

Linky is by far my fave :)

Adblock - Simply indispensible
Quicknote - Sticky Notes
chatzilla - Sometimes for logging onto mozilla IRC
QuickTabPrefToggle - Quickly enable/disable tab/window forces.
Fireftp - nifty ftp client
Adblock - Worth repeating again.

I use FoxyTunes. It could just be cause I'm too lazy to bother switching between windows

All-In-One-Gestures is my alltime favorite. I love not having to click the Back button or close button.

I kill'd it!

AddBookmarkHere - makes it easy to add bookmarks in a nested folder (easier than dragging)
Tab Clicking Options - my favorite, double click to close a tab
AutoFill - fill in forms
AdBlock - block ads
InfoRSS - news aggregator, put headlines in the status bar

Flashblock
miniT (tab dragging to rearrange)
sessionsaver - FF starts with all tabs like you left them
dictionarysearch - right click to look up a word
flst - focus on last selected tab (when you close a tab)
tabbrowser preferences - tabs work better!

I am like the proverbial kid in a candy shop - you guys are giving me all kinds of new extension ideas. I have one question - do you find that more extensions slow things down for you?

I heartily second this. I just discovered this one and LOVE it. It duplicates the functionality I used to have when I used AvantBrowser (which ran on top of *shudder* IE.

AND it'll work on Firefox on my Mac at work too. Woo woo!

That seems to be a bug when you initially download.

Simply go into tools, extensions, and then options for smiley's and select "Update smiley database" then all will be good :)

didn't work. I think it's a server prob. I'll check back in a couple of days.

Hmm, not sure if it is or not. I just tried and it updated in aboyt 2 secs.

Good luck for later, hopefully it will clear itself as it's a fun extension :)

I just found this thread - and have started installing a lot of the suggested extensions!

Since this is thread is more than 8 months old - was wondering if there are any new extensions you find useful?

I've add the smileys, color dropper, the mouse gestures. Had the LJ Hook (LOVE that). Going to add the DictionarySearch.

What else are you all using?

Here are a few others I have installed...
Auto Copy - Copies selected text to clipboard
TinyUrl Creator - brings the TinyUrl functionality into Firefox
StumbleUpon - Almost as addicting as DPC. Hrm, in fact... I was stumbling around with this extension when I ended up at DPC for the first time! :)

I use Tab Mix Plus for more flexibility on tab management.
SessionSaver to save and restore multiple sessions
FoxClocks to display multiple timezones on the toolbar
Translate for translating pages between different languages
The oft-mentioned Adblock, of course. :)
Several others, but these are the ones that might be of general interest.
