Hey this is a shot I took that I really like for sentimental reasons. Do you guys think it is technically good or is there anything post process you would do to it?

That is a wonderful pic. That is the kind of portrature I enjoy doing as well. capturing a moment. You might have used a slightly smaller aperature. Her eyes are a little soft. Seems that the focus is locked on her hands not her face, but otherwise an amazing capture.

This is awsome! From a mom's point of view you cant get any better than a shot like this of one of your kids!

This is a beautiful picture, but it's way over-yellow on the child IMO. Do you have photoshop? It's an easy adjustment in selective color if you do. Gimme a shout if you want me to show you...

Hi Benjamin,

Sometimes worrying about perfect technical details is for the birds, especially when you can catch a priceless moment.

Only thing I can suggest it some minor tweaks to the color levels, particularly in the
yellows & reds, to bring the skin tones closer to real, and also a B&W conversion with a warmer tone:

Re-edited the color version (too much Yellow) it F5/refresh screen to see it.

Great image I like it very much, the color shift by brad looks better though. Great job.

Well, if Brad's gonna mess with it, so will I. Dueling Adjustment Layers, cue dramatic music. This was all done in selective color, for a less technicolor effect than the two previous iterations:

Since Brad & Robert jumped in, here's a quick take with only curves & hue/sat. I left a bit mor red in keeping with the time of day, went a little darker on the sky, and cheated on her right eye (just bein' honest, LOL)

did you play with color balance at all, snapper? I agree with the PS junkies, the colors needed to be tweaked. Kirbic, in my opinion, you won the the PS Junkie award. Excellent editing.

I agree - Capt. Picard did a fine job!

Oh and by the way, I have nothing to do with bear_music - I have no idea what he's talking about. I've never even heard of him before!
(sucking up here)
LOL

I do wish I knew half of what Kirbic has forgotten though.

I think you meant THIS Capt. Picard, LOL...

Great pic I agree about the over yellow thing, but in this case I think the sentiment of the photo is WAY more important than the tech issues.

Let's see... we're both plump, we both have scruffy beards, we both like cars, we both have San Diego roots, we both lack interchangeable lens cameras, we both post a lot, we both have strange senses of humor, are you SURE you're not me?

'fess up...

Eh not quite! - 5'6", 165lbs & 33" waist does not plump make.

A work in progress - I'll give that one.

Yeah, guess I'll give ya that one too.

Nope - just live here.

Got another one.

Ya think?

You need to find a better descriptor than strange - kinda' like saying Micheal Jackson is unique.

Probably one of the few things in life I am sure of I think - maybe.

Thanks everyone for your great comments. I redid from the original image. I just brought the levels in to the curve a bit. I had actually on the old one made it golden like that in PS trying to experiment. But I think I do like it better with the naturaly looking skin tones...

Thanks everyone

To be honest Snapper, I really quite liked the golden tones of the first shot. Maybe not quite as gold as you had, but somewhere in between the 2.

What a gorgeous image, really is one to treasure.
