Hi,

Do any of you out there have any thoughts on the web-based digicam reviewers?

Who do you trust?

dpreview.com?
steves-digicams.com?
any others?

Are any more reputable than others? Does anyone think that any of them are influenced by manufacturer payola?

I don't think any of them are critical enough but I prefer dpreview because it has a lot of tests and you can compare certain aspects quite easily.

IMO, DPReview is the ultimate resource. There are other respectable sites, but DPReview is tops. They unfortunately don't hve time to review everything, so it's sometimes necessary to look elsewhere, and in that case Steve's Digicams I've found to be sensible, as well as imaging-resource.com and the Digital Camera Resource Page (dcresource.com)

dpreview and steves digicams are at the top of my list of reviewers.

Both the following have good information on the site as well as links/references to other resources.

I use steves. I don't go to dpreview EVER unless I'm using the side-by-side cam thing.

A couple more: megapixel.net

Digital Outback Photo

Digital Camera HQ

Some sites put up detailed reviews including test results and sample images. Others don't do much more tham post the maker's press releases. I think if you are serious about buying a camera you should check out everything you can find about it, not limit yourself to a few sites that you think are reputable.

LetsGoDigital lets you compare specs on 4 different cameras at once.
