critique please.
the theme is Near and Far

Excellent photos
1. I think this is the best for the theme.
2. good photo but the sky seems a little bright, If you could reflect a little more light on the flower it might help.
3. The near and far isn't clear to me. is the limb the near and the boat the far? or is the boat the near and the opening in the mountains the far?
4. It could just be me but I dont see a near, they all seem far.
I would like to see more of your work.

| I think they are really great photos. I love the beach one with the little girl. I think it is the one that best fits the theme. I am a new photographer and hope to be able to get as good as you! |

nice shots, the first one reminds me of a girl stranded on an island about to be rescued.. hehe. the last one with the sunset doesnt fit your theme too well, but is a sellable print IMO.

I also think the first photo is the best fit for the theme, which might be because it's the only photo with a person looking far off and we can sense that she wants to get to the boat but is struggling with how to do that. The other photos are nice but there isn't a 'near' subject, to contrast the 'far' subject and therefore the theme isn't a clear fit. I think if you hadn't announced your theme, I could make an accurate guess looking at the first shot, with the others I wouldn't be able to.

the third one of the white boat imo is a snapshot.
the first one of the child is nice, great colours.
the second one is v nice also.... I like the angle you have shot it from, looks great against the blue sky.
The sunset one is the best...v,v nice, love everything about it, very well taken.

The first shot is certainly the best fit for the theme, if that's the point. For me, the white boat shot is the one with the most impact - flowers and sunsets really have to be special indeed to get attention, and these just aren't that different. The boat shot is the best composed by far, and only needs some work to intesify the water colours and calm the sky, perhaps bring out the greens of the islands (?) and clam the nearer branches - all of which is just overall brightness/contrast things - and you have a gret image. It's actually the kind of scene that would work best if photographed about five hours later than that, bu the look of it - get a more horizontal light.
