Tacks? Rubber duckys? Rocks? Paper? Scissors?.... . Jewelry? I'd even have to buy an abandoned building so I could enter the property without trespassing. After buying a 20D, disposable income is at a minimum. I don't know anyone who would loan me their diamond necklace. Does anyone else find these challenge topics economically frustrating?

No diamonds required. There are lots of interesting jewelry possibilities. Got any lady friends?? Got a high school ring?

It's advertising! Who says you actually need to show jewelry to advertise it?

Sadly the challenge descriptions says something like 'see how well you can photograph jewellery.'

I too can't afford diamonds (or at this point even their cheap and nasty cubic zirconia counterparts). So given that I'm a little rusty when it comes to cat-burglary I think I'll have to sit this one out too :).

My failed exercise in rubber ducks broke the bank completely.

You can probably buy plenty of costume jewelry at a second-hand store for a buck or two ... or they'll just let you photograph it in the store.

It should be a great AD, but it doesn't have to be great jewelry.

Oh, well that blows. I obviously didn't read the description. Still, for me anyway, as long as it's an advertisement for jewelry, it'll for work for me. It kind of sucks they limit it so much in the description.

Well it's a consumer culture. I guess we have to live with it. :) I did have some Bling from an old Halloween costume, a big Dollar sign necklace. But I threw it away.

Maybe it's just a Canadian thing, but there are plenty of free rocks around here. Perhaps I should start an export business =)

It could also be costume jewelry. Everyday stuff or even kids things.

My point exactly. Everyday stuff. Everyday stuff I don't have. :)

I already got the license just waiting on the ring.

I tend to like the more open themes than the material item ones, but it's a double-edged sword. The literalism-wackos on the site will dissect a general theme into a rigid definition and vote with all kinds of goofy rules. In a "tacks" contest I think there's a lot less vigilante voting.

I'd prefer to adopt the term "Semantics Police."

So far this is the most expensive challenge for me. Spent right around $45-$50. But their is alot into even before attemtping a shot so we will see if it pays off.

I find them somewhat challenging, hence the name of the site.
