Hi kandy,
I saw some of the wild flowers on your sight. For some reason I can't get them all to come up. But they look good. Do they have to be "wild" flowers? Was thinking of doing that contest myself

I like 3351, it is different and fresh. A couple problems with it though, it seems a bit over sharpened and there is quite a bit of noise in the background, maybe try neatimage on it.

I like 3551 but I also think that 4091 is strong also :)

thanks, ya'll This is for an Arkansas contest. Would be happy to look at anyone else's for that one, or the other one mentioned in the other thread. Just seem to have a really hard time with my own...I guess they just become too personal for me, or I look at them so long I lose objectivity.

Where in Arkansas are you? I grew up in Siloam Springs, now live in Virginia...

I really liked 4091 and 3351. I would suggest cropping alittle tighter on 3351. Good job.

I like 3551 and 4091 the best too -- 3551 just seems to have a lot more personality as a wildflower than the others do (if that makes any sense to anyone else but me).

They're all nice, though, Kandi -- hope you do well in the contest!

I work and live in Jonesboro, hubby and I have a cabin south of Calico Rock and N. of Mountain Home on the White River, and love to "hang out" in NW AR around Jasper and south of Harrison at the Buffalo Nat. River Park. Isn't Siloam Springs in N. AR??

Lots of way to do this.... one way to do it is to make a flower shot that is interesting and not too cliche is to use a very shallow DOF:
Shallow DOF

The foliage and other bluebonnets in front of the subject is nearly touching the 200mm lens i used. This would be better if i could find some contrasting colors with it, such as yellow flowers, etc. though.

Nice work on ALL of these images but I personally like 4110 because it seems to have a "glow" in the center of the flower. I don't care for the spots on the leaves and I think, generally, judges of photo contests will count you down for that. Can you PS these images? If so, I would eliminate these spots. I think you could have a winning image with that minor change!

Ok Kandyj, I'm sure what you meant to say was you have a cabin south of Calico Rock and North of Mountain "View"!

I mean, there could be another Calico Rock above Mountain Home that I'm not familiar with... I know there are lots of forks of the White river up there. (My personal favorite is the North Fork of the White just into Missouri... Beautiful little river, great for floating.)

You wouldn't happen to be in the Boswell Shoals area would you? I've camped up a there a few times... Very beautiful area!

Duh, my adhd is showing. It is just south of Boswell Shoals and N. of Mt. Olive. and N. of Mountain VIEW.

The other wildflower contest that was brought to my attention by Gordon is this one.

The other oneis for photos taken only in arkansas.

the only one that was not very strong was the 4110, I'm not sure if it lack of focus or noise that keeps it from being better.

Yes, Siloam Springs is on the Oklahoma border, about 30 miles west of Fayetteville.

We used to go to Devil's Den State Park all the time to crawl through the caves. It's great to see some Arkansas folk on here!

Kandi,
I couldn't see 4092 and 4438 but 4110 seems like a winner. You could up the contrast 10% to deepen the background for more tonal difference. The star in the middle is beautiful.

I dont''t know why pbase is not showing all my thumbnails, but they were there a little while ago. Thanks!!
