If this is the picture you have entered, you need to remove it from your post. I think it will be disqualified if you reveal in the forum before judging is over.
04/15/2005 11:39:27 PM · #3
It probably wouldn't be disqualified, though it does seem that pics revealed suffer from lower votes.

Redstreak, the challenges here at dpc are supposed to be anonymous. The voters are not supposed to know who entered each picture until after the voting is over. That keeps voters from giving high scores to there friends, and low votes to others in order to make their own entry finish higher. People feel pretty strongly about this. It makes the challenges a lot more fair. You really should edit your post to remove the picture.

As above. May be you should wait until its over, then post it on the forum.

I´m not sure that he has entered this pic in a competition, seems like his firs entry on DPC.

but I like the picture, it has nice composition, the tree is correctly placed on 1/3, the DOF is good, nice contrasts, and in all a very good picture.

you might try putting it in black´n White since this is an old building, so it might be better with the old look of b/w or sephia.

but if this is a competition entry then you really should remove it from the post until voting is over :)

Not a problem doing that. :)

Also - for future reference, you can use the EDIT button on your posted messages in the forums and delete or modify the text - like to remove a link. ;-)

You have to upload them to a site on the internet and then link to them.

If you have your own website you can put them there, you can use an image-hosting service such as pBase or Smugmug, or you can join DPC as a paid member and get 25mb of Portfolio space here.

were they that bad?
04/29/2005 08:33:27 PM · #21
for some reason the first one didn't load all the way>?
The second is okay. Maybe a little busy to the right. Just a tighter crop is all it needs. Nice shot.

I can't load the first one either. No, they aren't "that bad"! I admire you at your age to be so involved in trying to improve your photography. What I would suggest is pouring over the many images here and elsewhere and get a feel for what makes some photos make you want to look at them. Read some book or magazines for tips on how to develop your "eye". Read this forum and you will get all kinds of information on post-processing, camera skills, artistic development, etc. Keep shooting and above all - PLEASE YOURSELF first!

There's definitely a problem with viewing the first one - most of the picture is just a block of grey.

I do like the second one, but have you tried converting it to black and white? I think it would take a bit away from the busy-ness of the shot, taking attention away from the fence.

ok I'll try to fix the first pics, thanks for the comments!
