I'm not sure about that particular model, but the fujifilm are pretty good generally, and easy to use. The viewfinders a very bad tho, as I read in the thread and also know from personal experience.

I LOVE mine. Had it about six weeks and haven't even delved into its many depths yet. It was darned expensive -- but worth it so far!

Cant tell you anything about the camera but //www.buydig.com seems to have the best prices on most digital cameras.

I got mine from B&H at the regular price when it came out, so while I did pay more than others have gotten it for, I was satisfied because I trust them for their outstanding service.
I really love the camera as it has been able to just about everything I've asked it to do and keeps providing me with amazing quality photos. It has great manual controls if your friend wants to be able to have full control of the shots and also the auto exposure modes do a wonderful job of determining correct exposure even in crappy lighting conditions. The only think that I wish it has is a focus distance indicator on the HUD thing...(lost my train of thought...). I mean that I wish I could see what distance the focus was set at on the evf or lcd. Other than that, the manual focus is nice once you get used to seeing it on the evf (I don't really use the lcd on the back except for macro shots) and the auto focus is good although it does sometimes give incorrect focus in tight areas of low contrast. I took a shot of a rhino once using some overhanging branches as a foreground element which happened to be about the same color as some of the background and it focused on the foreground. It has only done that twice since I've had it and now usually use manual focus anyway so it's not really a concern. The macro and super macro modes, by the way, are very nice. Color balance and sautration out of the camera are even and realistic but I still do processing in Photoshop for all that I intend to print or share. The 35-210 zoom range is very useful although I wish it went as close as the Dimage at 28mm, but you can get the Fuji wide angle converter to take it down to 28mm if you really need that.
In all, the camera is a wonderful package at such a (relatively) low price compared to other 3-5mp cameras with similar features. The expansion options alone are a big draw point too (flash hotshoe, adapter tube for filters and teleconverters).
I have been meaning to set up a website with just general photos that I've taken with the camera to share, maybe I'll try to speed it up to give you some examples. In the meantime, the photos at deviantart from my link below were all taken with the 602 but contrast and levels were adjusted in Photoshop.
Hope that helps some.

Got mine about six weeks ago. Takes lovely sharp pictures, colour balance good. Control options awesome. Still getting to know it. Will take bad pictures but only if you tell it to.
