I understand why they have to do it, but I have noticed that on a couple of fruit and veggie submissions there have been this comment under the photo:

"Administrator Note: This image has been VALIDATED by the administrators and was not acheived through illegal editing."

This statement, to me, suggests to the viewer that the photo has already been judged to have been possibly published or used commercially, which might tend to 'boost' it's ratings. Couldn't the administrators just post something in their membership agreement that states that the site owner is not responsible for 'illegal' submissions by less than honest members, so as to NOT influence voting?

Just a thought.

These notes are posted either because the photographer has requested it due to the nature of the photo, or because a photo has been accused of being illegally edited...

Sorry WJM but I can't see how it would lead people to think it was used commercially. Could you explain plz?

Hmm, I tend to think just the opposite. I used to feel as if the admin note was the "kiss of death." I'd still hate to have one on my photo, regardless of how many DQ requests I got. But thats just me. I try to ignore it these days, as I've gotten more accostomed to seeing them.

I think that the messages mean that the person didn't use spot editing, or framing, or something like that. I am not seeing it as something thats already been published at all. If that were the case, I think that the message would say "this has never been previously published". Just my thought.

Jean,

In cases where a photo has been recommended for duisqualification, we may ask the user to provide proof that the editing steps they took were within the rules. Once this proof has been provided an admin note is added so that any other voters who might have concerns about the photograph are assured that it is a legitimate photograph.

If a user is concerned that something about their photo may provoke DQ requests for illegal editing, they can provide proof that the photo was composed legally and request an admin note.

For more information on what editing is and is not allowed please see the rules page.
