Thanks everyone for your comments and inquiries on my Cementery entry.
I've received several requests about the original file and the post processing, so I'm posting them here.

When I was shooting around the cemetery I was indeed trying to find something unusual that would be interesting, and when shooting another tombstone I saw the sky and tried to use it to enhance the shot. That was the case of this outtake.

Later when the sun was lower I saw the oportunity with the cross and tried to put the light behind it so that it would have a halo and the sun rays coming out from it.

This is the uncropped original:

As you can see the halo is very faint and the picture itself lacks contrast and punch due to shooting against the lighted sky.

Using Photoshop CS: Image -> Adjustments -> Lights and Shadows I played with the values in order to get more overall contrast and texture and came with this one:

Which is definitely better but still lacked punch and the marble texture in the base of the cross was still very subtle. After playing some more with this values I got the submitted version which had a very interesting texture in the marble, and the enhanced dramatism in the clouds and lighting.

There was no dodging, burning, sharpening or spot editing of any kind.

I hope you find this useful and thanks again to everyone for making it a winner!!

A stunning photograph and a good use of post processing. I have read a lot of threads about post processing and how people are using it to create an image in stead of enhancing an image. I feel you did it 'just right'. your post processing is great and made a great picture stand out. Great job and great example of Post processing.
BTW congratulations on your ribbon.

Ditto that.

The outtake is superb too. Does it never stop doing that beams of light out of the clouds thing where you are or what? : )

As you can see the --- halo is very faint ---- and the picture itself lacks contrast and punch due to shooting against the lighted sky.

There was no dodging, burning, sharpening or spot editing of any kind.

If there was no spot editing...how come the cross in the edited version has a nice glow around it, and is absent in the original????

It's not really absent in the original, just really faint, that effect is intensified with the shadow/highlight tool in photoshop.

Yes, that's true. I re made the photoshop edition using neat image as the first step instead of last. I'll post this version soon.
