Ok, this is a photo from my first paid portrait session. Please critique it for me, if you will. Also, is it possible to correct a shadow on half the face? He didn't cooperate very well with face positions to get rid of the shadow, so I told him I would try to correct it a little if I could. Thanks!

Several ways to do it - You can use a feathered mask on the right side of his face and adjust curves, levels, B/C, use dodge.
ORIGINAL (cropped for emphasis on face)
Face partially feather masked & curve adjusted
Freehanded touch up with the Dodge tool
Just be careful not to overdo it and end up with this:
LOL
Seriously, though - I think it needs a tighter crop. Not real fond of the composition, but good shot overall - something you should be able to work with to produce a decent product. Hope this helps.
