You know I good 110 total reciprocal votes on This Week's (Macro) Challenge and I only got ONE functional transitional comment OUT OF ONE HUNDRED AND TEN VOTES! When I vote, I make sure I put a parallel monitored concepted comment on every single photograph, no matter what the photo looks like! Can't every one provide the same responsive reciprocal flexible courtesy when they vote! ! ! Big damn deal, it took me two hours to vote on all the photos this week but at least evevy one of them got a comment to go with the point system. What's the big hurry here Folks - I read the other week when somebody was bragging that they voted 100 entry's in only 6 minutes! ! ! Big Deal ! !
What the hell are you even bothering to vote for if you don't have time to look at the photograph and make some comments - even if they are NEGATIVE ! ! ! HOW ARE WE TO LEARN IF YOU DON'T MAKE COMMENTS ON OUR PHOTOGRAPHS ? ? ?
Regards,
Silver Fox aka

Thats a shame how can someone reach a proper conclusion on an entry in 3.6 seconds!

Sorry to hear that SilverFox. I know some have time constraints but flying through the vote like you mentioned is not fair to any of us. Hope it gets better.

Good photos make an immediate impact.. that goes for bad ones too.
I don't think you need to dwell on them unless they are emotional abstract or heavily manipulated.

I don't think it is necessary to comment on every single photograph. What I think should happen though is if you vote a 1 or a 10 you should have to comment on why you think the photograph deserves that score.

I honestly believe what gives anyone the right to say negative comments about a photo unless you know exactly what the photographer was trying to achieve and that just isn't possible here, unless you have some great power no one knows about. If you are going to say something negative then also be kind enough to say something positive about every photo. Even the worst of photos have some strong point.

I really appreciate Silver Fox for his comments. I try to comment on as many as I can; and it does take a long time. I usually comment on roughly 30-50%, but now that I'm a member and have two challenges to vote on, I'll have to stay up later at night! I leave comments when I feel I can put my finger on an element that the photographer did well or perhaps should have done better. I try not to just say "Great job."

I can say that this website will be saving our family money. We are all so caught up in photographing and commenting and participating in these forums, we are cancelling our cable TV: no time to watch!
