I joined a small photography site a week or so ago at the invitation of a friend. It is much (much, much) smaller, but it is a very friendly community from what I've seen. The photogs there shoot digital and that film stuff, but one thing I like about it is that its comments are free flowing. :-)
If you are a new photographer, or one who was starting to get a bit "burned out," it might be that breath of fresh air you need.
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMOR I, in no way, mean for this to be a substitute for dpc, but rather a supplement of. :-)
Oh yea, the reason for my post. I got POTD theretoday. |

Congratulations, Karmat, on the POTD! That's a terrific photo and as I'm also part of the Admin Team on the new site, I'd like to say that it's great to see you there! I hope that we have many pay the site a visit. ;)

Congrats to you both Ecce and Karmat for POTD honors!
BTW, that website looks very promising Karmat. Like you said, it's no substiture (not intended to be) for DPC, but should be a fun, low-key place to hang out.
The biggest challenge so far has been placing my pin anywhere CLOSE to my location :0) |

Nova, have you had problems with that Member Map that we love so much on the Photography Cafe? Don't try to put it on the "World" view but rather click on the view that suits where you live in the world and it's much easier.
Yes, congratulations to Karma and Ecce. The folks on there send in the suggestions for the POTD and it was obvious that both yours were well appreciated.
No site could take the place of DPC! We know that for sure. This is a great place.

It's been a fun week on Photography Cafe with several of you coming over. Thanks. (Just clicked on Ecce's link above and it goes to my photo as POTD! That will only be for about another hour though)
BUT... Photo of the Week goes to Karmat! Her photo, Lemon Twist was voted best photo of the past week.
