$25/year is fantastic to be a member here. I don't know the average membership time for members, 1 year 2 years etc but was wondering if a lifetime membership might be an option? (say) $100 for lifetime membership of the site. Thoughts anyone?

I would pay it.

I'm sure many would pay but I'm curious to see if they have any statistical information yet about the average "life" of a paying member here. Once they have that then they might be able to find out what a lifetime membership should cost...

Given the "flexible" nature of economics and technology these days, coupled with a generally increasing life expectancy worldwide, I think your price is probably off by two or three orders of magnitude.

Unless you mean for the life of the website, which might be only until the admins tire of the hassle of running it ...

It's a good idea, but I think it would take a lot of legal tweaking and number-crunching to make it a truly viable option.

Y not just pay 25 a year, till the admins get tired and send us all away, homeless.

I made sure I have means to pay for my next subscription, and have already ordered my international credit card! Been outside the US can be tricky sometimes :-)

If anybody convince the administrator of 100$ lifetime he must be elected the negociator of the year. 'Cos that was a hell of a deal for us users. Count me in! Twice!

Count me out......I'm joining DHC (digital holography challenge) in 2022 and QRC (quantum representation challenge...it would take too long to explain) as a retirement hobby in 2045 (yes, they raised retirement age to 75 years, the swines). Ben

Lots of sound replies, nobody knows what the internet will be like in 4 years time, let alone 10 so dpc may well be the winner getting cash up front. Me? I think a site like this (however good it is) would not be charging more than $10 a year for membership in years to come.

Discounts for paying in advance are very common... Since no expiration was mentioned with the 3rd anniversary discount, I wonder if it is valid until the fourth anniversary:) Does anyone know?

There was an expiration date.

For the next 3 days, new members can take $3 off a yearly membership with coupon code "DPCISTHREE". As an extra thank you to our members who've helped make this site what it is, existing members can take $5 off their renewals with coupon code "DPC3RENEW". You can renew at any time, and the year will be tacked on to the end of your membership, so feel free to take advantage of this offer no matter what your expiration date is.
