The company that I work for was chosen to host the "Arnold Schwarzenegger" news conference during is tour threw Los Angeles yesterday.

I was fortunate enough to be standing about 6 feet from him during his speech and fired off about 100 photos in 15 minutes. I have way to many to post but here are a few.

That is funny! Really funny. I just spit soda all over myself. Damn, and I just got in to work too. Now, I'll have soda shirt all day. Thanks.

Check it again. I had saved it and then put it up with the same image id, so it linked back to the original.

I saw him while he was giving a speech during his campaign. I actually was able to shake his hand. I'm about 6'0" and he seemed to be around 5'9" so I don't think thats "short" but its a lot shorter than what you would expect. They make him look huge in the movies.

There is no way he's 6'2" I saw him in person...

I tend to think everyone is short unless they're REALLY tall. Guys that are actually 5'11 or 6' I tend to think are like 5'7".

Ha... this is funny... living in LA, celebrity gossip is sorta everywhere -- everyone seems to know someone that knows someone that can swear about this, that and the other. Anyhow, it's a relatively well known fact that celebrities pad, argh, lie about certain vital stats... and height is certainly one of them. Arnold's height has been in dispute for a long time, and while he claims to be 6'2", it is almost certain that this is a stretch -- he's closer to 5'9".

Our intrepid political reporters in Sacramento, CA, always eager to keep us well informed on what's really important, our governor's height, have covered this issue. Here are some lines:

"While it's long been reported as fact that he's a stout 6-foot-2 -- with Schwarzenegger even saying as much in his 1977 autobiography, "Arnold: The Education of a Bodybuilder" -- he could be closer to the American average for adult males of 5-foot-9, according to some who have sized him up."

[...]

"We're trying to correct that," says a transition-team spokesman. "We're now saying he's 6 feet tall."

[...]

"It's the number we've had on the fact sheet we've given out over the years," she says of the 6-2 figure. "Quite honestly, it's never come up. It's never been confirmed, verified or rechecked, because nobody's really asked, and nobody really cared.

Read the article here (may need to register to the paper's site). Of course, the article, like a lot of "news" pieces, presents the case as "on the one hand," and "in the other hand," and "some say this," and "others say that." Here's the bottom line though, Arnold is definitely not 6'2" and is much closer to 5'9".

Here's a pic from the article:

Your right! The Governator is shorter that 6 ft. Planet hollywood used to have an exact replica of him from T1 and I would say 5'10" at most!
"McBain sucks"
Cool pictures, well done!

This isn't my pic - it's my husband's (he's a member too, but I know he'll never get around to posting it). He took quite a few shots of Ahnold at the NASCAR race in Fontana a few weeks ago. His seats were right near the finish line.

Those are some pretty great shots of my Governor.

While I don't have any shots of him (yet), I do have his autograph on an official document sent to us:

Ya know, I wish I lived in California (said like Arnold says it) just so I could vote for him. I don't want to turn this political, but we should allow him to run for President. What country is going to mess with the US when Arnold Schwarzenegger is President. Everyone's seen his movies. Everyone knows he kicks a$$!

Gotta be more scarey than Ronald Reagan was. besides that I don't think anyone wants to mess with the USA anyway we know what they are capable of. I hope that Arnie does become president anything has to better than Bush.

How old is arnie in real, non-movie years?

He's got to be in his 50's? He's looking fairly healthy etc for his age in that case...

An on the politcal front... Can he actually run for president? I read somewhere that to do that you have to be US born? No such problem here, anyone want to run for Prime Minister of NZ? :-)

Cheers, Me.
