Have I mentioned how much B+H rules....

I ordered my 50mm 1.8 Tueday at 8:00PM I just received it Thursday at 11:00AM. I am in Toronto Canada so it came over the border.

Amazing!!!
They are the best.

How much did it cost you in customs and shipping?

I'm thinking of ordering from them through the border for my 20D and lenses. You think its worth it?

If you are unconfortable telling specifics in public, email me at athisdale@videotron.ca and athisdale@ubisoft.qc.ca. I'd be very interested in knowing more of your experience. I'm in Montreal, Quebec.

Thanks

I paid 21 dolar canadian for taxs customs. and 20 for shipping.

I highly reccommend them.

I've gotten a 28-135 IS, 100 2.8 macro, 17-40L, 1.4X converter.

I originaly bought the 50mm macro with life time converter but did not like it so I called them up and they took it back no questions asked and I upgraded to the 100mm.

Why didn't you get it at Henry's for $120 + tax?

Wouldn't that have been almost identical in price, using a .82 factor for the Canadian dollar?

Beacuse I never have any problems with B+H.

I find henry's to be full of a whole bunch of people who don't know much and give very bad service. Now I'm not saying that this is true for eveyone there or that every one will get the same service. Also why would I support a business that sells a canon 100mm2.8 for 1000 plus tax when I can get from B+H for under 750$. The mark up is too crazy.

If I need someting from in town I go to Vistek. 10 times better service and no hasles.

Have you ever tried to return something at Henry's..... Good luck

I just ordered a Sekonic L358 and a background stand to hang 10' wide muslin. They shipped the order within 18 hours and it will be at my house tomorrow morning. BH is always excellent for service and speed of processing. Also, if they don't have it in stock, they won't sell it to you. I have ordered from other places, paid for two day shipping, only to wait two weeks because it was on back order. BH will never do that to you.

Good to hear... cause I'm getting some lens and I was planning on getting them from B&H but wasn't sure about the Canada thing... but I can tell you shopping online B&H has the better prices even with Conversion and Shipping (by about 100-300CND per lens) that I'm looking at.

Thanks for the info.

I did have one question, can you have it serviced locally or is that considered a Gray Market / Import and you have to ship it back to B&H because Canada would be an Import from the States?

good question, and there are no duty/custom fees for photographic equipment? how come?

If you buy the imported one you have to get it serviced at B+H but if you buy the US one you can get it serviced locally.

Yes, I was refering to the USA ones (NOT IMPORT) but since it's a import from USA to Canada I just wasn't sure. Thanks for the Info.

PS: i've used //www.thecamerastore.com/ for some stuff they are in Calgery so you don't pay PST if you are getting shipped to Ontario... FYI
Not a great website but you can call them and they are pretty good. FYI
