Please note the results of the Ansel Adams challenge have been recalculated due to a disqualification. The entry previously ranked in 4th place was disqualified due to inability to produce an original when requested.

:(
What a bum deal, I really liked that picture.

me too :)

For the record, I opened it from my CF card, and started working on it. Saved it to my hard drive as a PSD, and cleared my CF card for more shooting - poof - one DQ coming right up.

It really is one of those things where I tried something, didn't have time to refine it, and submitted it. My file name on my hard drive is "angel horses" - making fun of my rough style in playing around with it.

So I just threw it in there for the heck of it, and watched with shock as it did the best of anything I've entered.

I don't apologize for the amount of D&B, just for the roughness of the treatment. One of these weekends I'll rework it to my satisfaction.

It has been added to my portfolio again, and a print will be available for those who are interested. Thanks again to all those who commented, I learned a ton on this one!

edit: added more explaination

Now would be an excellent time to initiate the new policy of appending DQ'd photos to the end of the challenge results. : )

That was one of my highest votes. Too bad. I hope they keep it as a print and share the PP with us.

Digitalknight (Doug),
I particularly liked the rough processing. I know I wasn’t alone because you climbed all the way to 4th place with it. I really liked your bold and creative take on the challenge topic too. In one of the other threads it was mentioned how Ansel Adams never took a picture of horses and added a glowing halo effect to his pictures. I couldn’t help but think to myself…. But if Ansel Adams were to take a picture of horses with a smooth glow effect, it would probably turn out a lot like yours did. Kudos on you and save your originals from now on.
