What would you think of having a challenge where the winner would get the opportunity to choose the next challenge topic (maybe call it the Winners Challenge, maybe run bi-monthly).

The subject for the next challenge would need to get an 'oki doki' from DPC administration. (We would need someone's censoring - not so much for me, but for some of the other 'crazies' around here - LOL).

Good idea. That could lead to some interesting challnges. But... is the winner who suggested it allowed to enter it?

I would think it would be ok for the winner to enter. He/she might have a preconceived idea for their challenge subject, but it would still need to be a new photo.

i like this idea... a little more of a prize than just a little digital ribbon (even though i try hard for those little digital ribbons:) )

That would definantly help move the challenge ideas along.

Cool idea. But how about letting 4th place choose? The first 3 have ribbons, the 4th place gets the consolation prize.

Does your brain ever stop? :)

Another Excellent idea...

Would it be for the Advanced challenge Only (another reason to get signed up), Basic or Both? I would think it would need to be one so the challenge makers could still do their weekly thing.

And there would have to be some stipulation were we didn't end up with pets, flowers or macros every week.

Seems better suited to members-only challenges, they tend to have a better sense of the history of the place. If it's a once-a-month thing, I don't see a problem with repetition anyway; be simple enough to code a rule eliminating topics of "x" period of time in the past.

I like that idea but here's another. Why not every so often (maybe twice a year) have an unlimited no holds bared challenge. No limits to the editing of photos. I see so many photos that blow my mind that I would like to see what this group could do with the gloves off.

The amount of creativity that I have seen in this group blows my mind. I have been so inspired and think that I could learn alot from the "final frontier" :-)

Any takers??

Maybe last place should choose, could help them do better next time

I thought about that, but some of the last place entries are from people who don't participate very often and/or don't really have a clue... Anyway, do you REALLY want to provide even MORE incentive than the mythical "brow ribbon" to encourage people to actually TRY to finish last?

LOL

Maybe the user that commented the most could suggest the next challenge.

Wouldn't that lead to dozens and dozens of people commenting one-liners on every entry? How to resolve the ties?

You are right about 'one liners' and ties. But all the best. I don't care about choosing the next challenge...I just want to win one. [LOL]

I think the idea is interesting, but you'd have to deal with the lag time between winning and picking a topic. Usually those occur at the same time, and I think D&L enjoy picking the topics anyway.

How about just submitting your desired 'subject' at the same time as your photo entry (could have a designated spot for it), if you happend to win they would already have it.

Maby instead of just making one up, the winner just gets to choose between 4 choices or somthing. That would keep there from being any super-lame challenges

Holding that thought..... If we were not able to specifically choose our own, what if there were a 'drop down' list of 'acceptable' challenge suggestions available to pick from at the time we enter our respective photo.

Or there could be a poll that everyone could vote on from a list of several topics.
03/11/2005 07:50:38 PM · #23
Since we usally post how we are doing on a challenge, the people that are close to the top can post what they want and the site would post the one the winner picked right away

As notedbefore, the problem with this would be people deliberately tanking this challenge to be able to pick the next one... probably not a good idea...
