Im in Rockhampton. Central Queensland Australia. We've only had rains and wind, nothing too major. I hope Cairns doesn't get hit hard.

Just called my mum who lives near Port Douglas. She's 'batterning down the hatches' so to speak...The wind near her place was starting to pick up at around 5-6pm this arvo. I've lived in Cairns for the past 20 odd years (now in Brisbane) and I've lived through bad cyclones, however, none such as this category 5. I'll be giving my mum a call on her mobile tomorrow to see how they are all going.

I just ask if you all could say a prayer for my family and friends who will be affected by this.

Thanks sooooooo much

Lydia :(

Latest image available. Report is from 7pm AEST. Heading due west into the coast. Category 5 very destructive winds.

Not sure if I know any members from up that way.
Hope every thing is ok for them up there.

I'm sure everything will be fine...

There is nothing that you can do from Brissy... It would be better for you to sleep and have a look in the morning.

Not yet awake, but thanks for asking.

Cyclone has been downgraded to a category 4 overnight, but they were still stressing it is a very powerful cyclone, winds of 280 kph, and I think they expect it to hit land on Thursday morning.
