If someone has to submit an original un-edited photograph for proof purposes, when they give information on how the photograph was edited, how detailed does the info have to be?

Is it sufficient to just type:

Auto Levels
Crop
Adjust Contrast -

or would you have to say:

Auto Levels
Crop 640x535 Centre area of photograph
Adjust Contrast -14

I have not written down detailed steps for my post-processing. Does anyone do this? Or simply save a PSD as a reference? thx

probably the first would be suffice. if there were any questions, they'd probably email you and ask. All of the people who vote though (the site council) are photog's themselves and pretty much understand everything. Of course, if you wanted to get that specific, I'm sure it couldn't hurt.

Usually a general indication of steps taken is OK. In cases where we are unable to duplicate results at first, we may ask for more specifics. It's really very rarely an issue at all.
BTW, saving a PSD won't help, since the history is not retained between editing sessions. You can choose to save a log, however. I personally don't but it's not a bad habit to get into, and I keep telling myself I should do so for challenge submissions.

Thanks very much for the help guys. I feel better now :)

Now all I gotta worry about is being good enough to be ASKED for proof! LOL
