Here they are. Just 3 so far from tonight's session. I will say this for the 1Ds: DAAAHHHYum!!

This camera could torture kittens or club baby seals and I'd still love it like I was its momma. I just printed an 8x10 and its flawless. I'm ordering a 20x30 to see how well this body really does work but so far it looks outstanding.

Here are some more shots of Ashley.

Thanks for any comments/critiques,

Kev

Nice work Kev. Enjoy your new baby. I like the 2nd one. Great eyes.

That second one is beautiful kev! The other two are well lit and shot, but lack the "Look" The expressions are a bit out of charecter for such a pretty girl. What wonderful eyes she has! Hold that camera up with pride, and my best to you. B

Nice images, nice camera... Which lens were you using?

Sorry 'bout that. I added that info to the images themselves now. First photo was with the Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 EX DG Macro. The headshot was the Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8 L IS (I finally have the room to use it now that we've cleaned out the studio). I used the Sigma again on the last one.

Thanks,

Great shots as always Kevin..

Could you post an unsharpened 100% from one of the shots for us curious folks? As you said in one of your posts a wee while back, the 640x format dosn't do this camera justice..

Cheers, Chris H.

With her I hope. Have fun. Great cameras have great perks.

As usual, I hate you Kevin for having access to the most beautiful models!

Lovely shots. The very first is my favourite, but it would be a close call between any of them.

Chris,

Here's a 100% crop with no edits.

Same 100% crop but with minor edits for skin blemishes (since you're pretty close).

And finally an edited and sharpened version of the same 100% crop

Duly noted. I would join you in hating myself (I've many more reasons probably) but it seems I'm booked until late May you see. Perhaps then I'll find some time to indulge and we can have ever so many talks about it. In the mean time I'll work to give us both more fodder for our passionate dislike of me based on the subjects I photograph.

Oooh, oooh. I have 2 more photohsoots coming up over the weekend. Perhaps we can really loathe me then, too.

;)

Thanks,

Kev

If you don't mind me asking, are these models paying you for portraits? Or is it a kind of trade off? (e.g. their portfolio shots in trade for you building up yours)

some nice work there, lighting is better in some than others (I personally don't like the way the light below her shining up makes her face look) but overall nice. She's beautiful, she should let loose....then again the more shots she sees of herself maybe she'll learn to relax.

The young ladies I've worked with recently paid me for photos they could send as test shots showing their physiques and faces. Some of them want me to help them build a portfolio so we're working that out. The shots you see in this post were a trade because I needed to test my new camera to be sure its free of defect.

Yeah, she's starting to get more relaxed. She's a lot of fun to work with, too. I brought the bubbles in to give her something to focus on so I could get some more relaxed, active shots without getting that "posed" frozen feeling.

Ahh, I see. Well your name must be spreading, because you always seem to be posting some new shots. Good luck with the new camera and keep up the great work.

Wonderful shots Kevin. Great work!
I have a question - unrelated to your work. When someone displays a 100% crop of an original image, exactly what does that mean?

The image that comes out of the camera is very large. To make it small enough so that everyone (even people on slow connections) can reasonably see it you lose definition in the image. To counteract that, people will cut out a small section of the BIG image and post it so that others can see the minute details or the definition that exists in the original, unresized image. When I posted a 100% crop it means I opened the image in PhotoShop, clicked the "Actual Size" button, I used the crop tool to make a selection around one eye of the person (that was my choice) and then I click on Image and Crop. All the rest of the image was cut away and the section I had highlighted was left at its original size and with its original data. Now I post that so others can see how the image actually looks to me on my computer.
