How about an Armed Forces challenge? Take a photo intended to honor those who protect & defend your country.

I already have an excellent idea for this challenge if it happens.

I think it might turn out to be a very US orientated challenge.

Does Holland not have any kind of army, navy, national guard or even war memorials?

You will need permission from the Military officials to take photo of them~
Or ,you might be acused of spying or endangering the personnel !

Man I have to find my pictures when I served in Romania before Ceausescu's fall.
Same God damn uniforms.
You made me think of that times.

Anyone who lives in Europe, especially, has a plethora of sites available within easy distance honoring the fallen of WWII, so they should have a field day with this challenge if it ever happens. Americans, on the other hand, unless they live near a base, rarely see their military, and our battle monuments are on the Eastern seaboartd mostly (Civil War and revolutionary War).

I've spent the last few days taking 500+ pics of Peruvian sailors. Not our servicemen, but I'll share a couple.

Army, Navy and Airforce but you can't get close (excluding the days when they want to display their stuff) and what you can see is not interesting at all. Not many interesting war memorials either. 50 years of rather leftwing policies did not make an athmosphere where you feel really proud of the armed forces. It's more like 'just another job'. Doesn't mean I feel that way, but there is no mood in Holland like "I want to honour our armed forces." You wouldn't believe the discussion we had last week about a monument honouring the fallen men from the Eastindia (Now Indonesia) actions in the late '40s. You almost get the feeling that the socialists and green parties would rather bring them all before a tribunal.

Yeah, extra points for capturing jingoism.

That all depends on DP users knowledge of the word jingoism, but I won't rant. Just adding a smidgent of cynical humor.

I can think of a few other countries where photographing the flag might fit as well.

New word for me: jingoism = the belligerent spirit or foreign policy of jingoes; chauvinism

Then make it a flag challenge. Honoring the military is one thing. Nationalism (from any country)has never apealed to me though.

They tend not to... export their form of government aggressively and violently (Germany)? ... invade others ideologically opposed to their way of life (Russia)? ... Legislate cultural beliefs domestically and internationally (France)? Or did you have something else in mind?

I was referring to the "extreme nationalism" part of the definition.
