Don't know how he's doin' yet, but I'm on day three no alcohol myself. This time of day is easy though. It's late at night that I have to worry. My inspritation comes from Buzz. Hope he's doin' allright.

He raised some questions for me, too.
You, too. After my daughter goes to bed hard times come...

I wonder how many people re-evaluated their own situation after reading Buzz's original post?

For myself I spend the first two months of every year completely dry...just to prove to myself that I still can.

it's pretty easy to get lost in a bottle when things aren't going your way...peace and good luck to all those who are struggling to find their way.

Keep up the good work TC, we're with you, and buzz. Perhaps he is in a program where he does not have access to a computer.

He was hanging in when I talked to him yesterday. I'll point the thread out to him.

Well first of all, Im doing better than I thought I would be.
But I still wanna drink, the need or hunger is still very strong.
I'm not sleeping good at all, but Im sure it will be worth it in the long run.
I am getting more inspiration from all of you than you are me, trust me.
I cant believe all the well wishes I have recieved, and Im sorry that I haven't replied to all the emails you have sent..
And for my post to inspire other people to re-evalute their lifestyle and make a change is just amazing to me..
I did have to take a short term leave from work to battle my problem, and I can't wait just to get back to a normal way of life.
Well I'll never be "Normal" :)----- but ya know what I mean..

Thanks to everyone you wished me well, put me in your prayers, and sent me the emails of encouragement..

GOod to hear so many people actually DO re-evaluate themselves. Some people never try or just don't care to. There's nothing uglier then looking into your own heart and not liking what looks back.

My good friend is moving here from Newfoundland tomorrow, he recently started AA also. He was headed into the military but, thankfully, realized that's no place for an alcoholic. He's 27 and I am so glad he's seen the err of his ways early in life.

Best of luck to all!

Must not be the US military, 'cause he'd feel right at home there.

Good luck to everyone trying to fight something.
I am probably lucky that I have another type of alcohol problem. I have the problem that sometimes after two beers I wake up the next morning with such a hangover. I guess a blessing in disguise. My wife thinks it's great as I offer to drive at every party or when we go out as it is incentive not to drink much. I must admit, I worry about her though. How can you tell if someone else is an alcoholic if they wanted to keep it from you?

LOL!! I still love a beer or two. But my body keeps me in check and limits me to about 2. During the week I normally stop at one coz I have to work the next day.

When someone is as close as your spouse, they can't hide it. That is if you really want to know and are looking for it. AlAnon, an offshoot of AA, is a good starting point if you really want to spot a closet alcoholic.

I had an alcoholic father and had worked for years in mental health, but I still failed to spot it in my ex until it was pretty advanced. It is amazing how good some are at hiding it.

Buzz, Go to 90 meetings in 90 days, get a sponsor, work the steps. Pray to God and ask for his help. Good luck.

If it's someone that you live with tell them no alcohol is allowed in the house and see how long it last.

It soon comes pretty obvious that someone has a problem when you deny it from them.

It is a sad fact of our Western Society that we allow so many lives to be wasted on alcohol and view large consumption of alcohol as a socially accepted way of life.
