The last photo is my favorite. I was thinking about going to shoot this, but I saw way to many people there on the news. Crowds make me crazy! :-)

16 days ... better hurry. I'm going to upload some pics later today. I went this morning as well - the crowds were insane. In all my years of living here, i've NEVER seen so many people all over Central Park. Pretty amazing. And the weather is perfect - gorgeous sunshine and not too cold. Now all we need is some snow and the photo ops will be phenom!! I think i'll try hitting it mid-week and see if there are less people...

Very nice pictures, but the biggest waste of 21 million dollars the world has ever seen. That includes the 21 million contributed to the films Waterworld, Ishtar, and Pauly Shore is Dead.

Philistine. And it was Christo and J-C's money to waste, no?

What exactly is this event? I am unfamiliar with it.

I was there yesterday. It was great to see so many people enjoying the park, in my opinion, and I think that is largely the point of the art. Funny how such a silly thing can give people an excuse to get off their ass and go enjoy the day.

I've been a fan of this couples work for ever. Christo and Jeanne-Claude are a couple that creates bigger than life artwork with textiles and fabric. They finance the artworks with the sales of Christos (husband) drawing of work to come. Never with goverment or sponsored money.

Their next work will be covering the Arkansas River in Colorado.

Some people (like here) say it's a waste of money, I call it art.

I think cameras out numbered people. I was the guy with the D70. Kidding of course.

Both Saturday and Sunday were beautiful days to shoot away but way too many folks at the event to allow for an easy view. It was almost impossible to take a shot without thirty or forty photographers in the composition. Still a lot of fun.

For the person who aked, I believe it will run another 13 days, if I'm not wrong.

They called the color of the fabric "saffron". Looked like plain old orange to me. The jury is still out on whether it was a waste of money or not but events like these are what make NYC great and may have even brought in some well needed tourism ($$$).

Nothing spectacular, but I wanted to share some of mine from today.

I have to admit... I am colorblind to Orange after today.
