Rebel 300D with 50mm f/1.8 II $10.00

I have a $10 starting price on my 300D currently listed on Ebay.

Both camera and lens are less then 6 months old and were rarely taken out of the box. These were bought as a backup system for my EOS 1Ds system. I am upgrading to a EOS 20D as a backup and will not need this camera. Both camera and lens are in like new mechanical, optical and cosmetic condition. Go here to view this camera listing.

Both camera and lens come in their original box and packaging. Lens comes with caps, soft pouch and blank warrantee card. Camera comes with front cap, battery, charger, manual, strap, software and blank warrantee card.

Good point deapee.. quoting a starting bid price is kind of underhanded if you set a reserve and don't mention *that* :)

I can only imagine how many bids are already in place. I seriously doubt a $10 bid would get that camera regardless of 'starting price'

well i put up a bid to get you started nsbca...but I think it's pointless to bid on items with a reserve. so unless I know what that is I'm definately not bidding anymore.

Well.. good luck selling it. Hope you don't have an attitude like that with ebayers that email you with questions about the reserve.. or it'll sit there for a few years :) (of course, there's always the dumb people to rely on.. and auction sites are full of those)

Woah, I dont think not giving out the reserve price is a "bad attitude". It's just common sense, come off it, he's still trying to sell his gear without people robbing him blind. If it were common practice to give out the reserve price then it would say "the reserve is --" instead of "the reserve has/n't been met".

What attitude? The reserve is kept confidential for a reason. You expect me to post it of a blog? When Ebayers email me with a question about the reserve I tell them the same thing. Why would I care to give one bidder an advantage over any other. I have no intention of revealing the reserve until the item reaches that reserve. If you care not to bid on something with a reserve that is your perogative. You can either wait until the item reaches the reserve to bid on it or bid on someting with no reserve or a buy it now. Do what you like.

probably.. one of the problems with being a socialist is that we like to bitch about anything that has to do with secretive or questionable sales tactics. To me, even *setting* a reserve in an auction is silly. If you want a certain price for something, ask for it. LOL

Setting a reserve for something in an auction is not silly at all. It's a minimum selling price...

Saying "blah blah blah for $10" has always gotten on my nerves because it will go for 'market value' just like every other 300d on ebay...opening bid is meaningless.

yea like I did when I was selling my 300D on EBay, no reserve, but a starting bid of $1100 (was good at the time) and got ZERO bids. It's all about marketing and the perceived value - starting a bid at $10 will just gain more attention...again, apart of our socialist culture.

You people are all way off base, he did not invent the idea of a reserve and there is nothing wrong with him having one, it is a common practice .
What you should be giving him a hard time about is the very deceptive subject he gave this thread which clearly was meant to get people to think that there was a 300D out there for $10 when in fact there is no way to buy it for that price.

No it doesn't. Doing so works. Saying so doesn't really, I don't think.

I would also auction something with a low starting bid. I wouldn't tell people "blah blah blah for $10". I would say "blah blah blah is being auctioned".

it's pointless to sit there and bid, bid, bid then the item hits $900 or something and it's still not met reserve. it's pointless.

The reason I assumed you would share your reserve was that you only started the bidding at $10 so that they wouldn't take a higher percentage as if you started the bidding at $300.

Either way, I usually refrain from bidding on items with a reserve and will defiantely not be bidding on your 300d anymore...take it for what it's worth. I may not matter, but I may.
