I like it...a bit low on contrast, but I really feel like I'm floating in midair when I look at this!

My first thought on reading the title of this thread: "I've never seen a bridge that size..."

Nice shot. I like it better cropped at the base of that cement footing.

Hey aronya!! I got news for you. This is a longer bridge over water. The Golden gate is the longest over water and land.

I agree. There's something about the "floating" aspect that just makes it really interesting.

I tried cropping it closer to the footing like Ayonya1 mentioned, but for some reason it lost some of it's "floating" feeling.

Just remember....I'm an novice and don't really have any experience or training in this, heck I only found out about this site a week ago.

From the page:

Longest Bridge Spans are categorised in the following tables according to the structural type of the main span. The "Span" means the main span of a bridge = centre to centre distance of adjacent towers, pylons, piers or supports given in metres. It does not mean the total length or overall length of multi-span bridges. If the lengths of several spans in one bridge are equal, it is mentioned in Notes column. Overall lengths are not included - only the longest spans. Year means the year of completion or intended completion if known.

This could be the reason for the discrepancy.

Also note the previous post does not say this is the longest bridge in the world, only that it is the longest over water AND land.

I think you misread my post. I've STILL never seen a 35mm bridge.

THANK YOU! Somehow, when you have to explain 'em, they usually lose a lot of their punch...

To be accurate, the longest bridge would be the Lake Ponchartrain Causeway in New Orleans, LA. The northbound spans 23.87 miles and the southbound spans 23.86 miles. The bridge crosses the 610 square mile Lake Ponchartrain.

Wow! That's an amazing coincidence, don't you think? Both the bridge and the lake have the same name! And a name like Ponchartrain! Who woulda thunk it? :)

Simon & Garfunkel are the longest bridge over troubled water.

Sorry. I can't help myself.

S-U-S-P-E-N-S-I-O-N bridge

not a causeway or highway over water. So quit it with this confederation bridge.
