Can anyone single out a photo in my profile with good potential to become a seller? I wont set up a dpc Prints account unless my photography gets better. People say im too hard on myself... Opinions??//rulerzigzag.dpchallenge.com

My honest opinion? At this point there's nothing in the portfolio that would be worth listing to sell. Keep working at it, friend. Look at some of the portfolios of "site favorites" and challenge winners to see what's happening, visually, and try to raise the level of your game.

Tony, everything has the POTENTIAL to sell but one thing is for sure, if you don't put images on dpc (or elswhere) then as sure as eggs is eggs you won't sell any!. I doubt anybody has got rich selling images on dpc but its a great place to start.

As an example, I like the image below and am sure it would look very nice in somebodies home.

Keep taking pictures and yes I'm sure you have the potential! (I've earn't the sum of $1.32 to date :)

As a photographer I think you have a lot of potential if that was part of what you are asking. As far as the salability of the images in your portfolio, I will side with Robert on that.

My suggestion – do you want to hear my suggestion? - go to a lot of museums and galleries and study what makes an iconic image work. Find one you like a lot and try to figure out what it is you like about the image and how it was created. You live in NY. You are surrounded by art.

Speaking as one who knows nothing about marketing (I, too, am under $10 earned on DPC Prints) I went ahead and left you some comments. See "A Prayer" and "Mail for the Dead" and "Stapleton Bank". I liked those best, and to answer your question, yeah the potential is there. The more deliberative, market-oriented shots you take, the more likely you're going to produce what someone else is looking to hang on their wall. (hint: keep it simple) In the meantime, enjoy the shots you want to take yourself. Don't get discouraged, but also consider whatever critiques come your way. (even if they disagree with me!)

Hey, wait a sec. Were not done yet :) Let's see, you're still young, you're very interested in photography and you are here! So, I would say that alone gives you pontential. I don't really see a particular style to your work and they are a bit overly complicated but there is a kind of energy to them that I like. Absolutely, you have potential but I wouldn't rush to try to sell your work just yet. I wouldn't worry about the style part yet but, as stated already, it usually works best to simplify by eliminating all uneccessary elements. Obviously you should learn as much technological information as you can but in addition to that I would suggest reading about some famous photographers for incredible insites on how and why they do what they do. I am currently reading "Ansel Adams at 100" and it is fascinating, I know I will learn a lot from it. Good luck, you are on the right track.
