2 AM, from my deck, and it's just starting... Cape Cod, January 23, 2005; mark it down...

Haven't checked the news today. Is this gonna be a bad one?

Duh! I guess I should have looked at the picture before I asked - thousand words and all that.

Damn, I just looked at the Weather Channel. This is a big one. It was warm all day then we started getting cooler gusty wind out of the north early this evening. I didn't know it was all part of the same system. We are even getting snow in parts of Alabama. I don't think we will get any this far south though.

I wish I was up there with you all. Think of the great pictures you will all get when you go out tomorrow (if you can get out).

Here's another one. As for "getting out", it's highly unlikely, with 50 mph winds and over 2 feet of snow. It ain't so much the driving part, it's the fact that I'll have to dig the jeep out and I ain't doing that in no 50 mph winds...

You all are going to have six and seven foot drifts!

I'm kind of delighted with the pics, no comments on that? I'm dedicated enough to be up at this hour, don't I deserve a gold star?

damn! talk about a fleeting moment...

we have a full moon tonight, and 30mph gust. there were some clouds moving by and some nice reflections off the ice. unfortunately, i just couldn't get it, and it's to cold to try again. guess i'll put on a pot, and get back to commenting on best of...

;-)

edit: good luck to all ya'll north of here! stay warm and safe!

Nice picture Rob. The snow is just starting here as I am typing this. They say the blizzard should stay in effect until tomorrow night. Glad I don't have to work today or tomorrow.

Happy, here's your picture :-)

This is showing potential for being one of the great blizzards... I sure hope the power hold up... I just cleared a FOUR FOOT snowdrift away from my front door, tried to clear away from the house to look for the papers AND THE WIND KNOCKED ME OVER... Bad idea. Death in a snowdrift...

That's right! Nice shots of BK you got there. I just tried to go out but the trains in my neighborhood aren't running. But hey, at least it's sunny and beautiful and dead out... I'll post some pics from my neighborhood in a bit...

And here they are:

Yesterday when it just started:

And this morning, when it all ended:

Speaks for itself.

That was at 930 this morning and it has been snowing ever since.

Was still snowing & blowing when I shot this at around 3 PM; we have had winds over 50 mph. This is my house, side yard; some of you will recognize it from my Candids II entry. The fence in the BG is 3 and a half feet high, more or less. Maybe closer to 4 feet.

This is gonna go down in history as one of the Cape's great blizzards...
