I will shortly be purchasing a larger compact flash card and would like to start shooting RAW. What I need is software to edit these RAW images before importing them into Photoshop 7.

Just wondering what other folks here use to edit RAW images outside of Photoshop CS. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I use the nikon capture software it doesnt help solve your issue but i was wondering if the canon version of the RAW edititer is any good at all. I use CS too but another software i know that does RAW is ACDSee 7.0 its not a bad editer at all.

I don't know if you use a Mac or a PC, but on the 22nd Apple's photo organizing/editing software is now supporting RAW format, so you could do it from that. If you do not use a Mac, I am not sure what software is out there other than PS that you could do this with. If you do find out, let us know so that we can help others that need the same information!

Most of the good RAW converters, outside of CS, cost about the same as the upgrade to CS, don't they ? :)

I switched from breezebrowser, to capture one and have now switched from capture one, to using CS pretty much exclusively, mainly due to the better integration.

Capture One LE is $100, Photoshop upgrade is about $180

Bibble's RAW converter is good as well, but has had some issues with white balance adjustments. I think you can download free trial versions of both Bibble and Capture One and use for 30 days.
