Hehe.

I like the rain, and I'm glad it's been raining-although if I had some trouble because of the rain I'm sure I wouldn't be as happy, but I haven't had any problems. Gas is under two bucks in Los Angles, and my rent is only $400 a month. :)

Also, living in LA, I get all the good movies much earlier than the rest of the county, NYC not included. And that's really cool, to me anyway.

Not to mention wacky Arnold for President and no-smoke ban...

400$ rent? Where?
here?

Or, maybe they have to pay me to live there :-)[

Oh trust me, I wonder every day.
Gas is under $2.00/gal now, but I am getting a little tired of the rain - enough already!

But on the other hand, it IS a beautiful place:

(forgot a few...)

...and it still is - hasn't stopped all night!

(OK, so it's a shameless self-promotional bump for the day crew.)

It is a beautiful city though!

And just where is better?
THe north/north east has snow, cold and for us here in PA, no sunshine. Well, ok, 2 days since Thanksgiving, but TONS of rain. If it did not rain anohter drop for 6 months, we'd still be too wet!

Florida...hurricanes. bugs. tourists. Jeb Bush(LOL)

New Orleans maybe...oh yeah, the city is below sea level.

Texas? Home of the Bushes. Can't get out of the state by car the same day you start driving.

There's no place like home - work, taxes, McDonalds and Walmart. Everywhere is the same anymore.

Got me. I beat feet and moved as soon as I retired. 4th-generation native San Diegan (BradP's home area) and I moved to Cape Cod. Costs about he same, but the weather's a hell of a lot more "interesting" and it's simply beautiful here.

Re: the general's "Walmarts and McDonalds", there's nothing like that within 15 miles of where I live, and very little of it on the Cape at all, especially the long arm of the Cape, where I hang out. Basically a fast-food and big-box-free zone.

Robt.

Here are just two examples of what's keeping me in Cal:

Now, I should really get some pics of "Cal babes" in my portfolio.

Haha. Well, it's $800, but I have a roommate.
01/11/2005 03:49:22 PM · #19
Hell, if you find enough roommates you can live like a king in California on pretty little bux. Plenty of NICE houses for rent with 4 bedrooms and 2-3 baths. Near or on the beach, views, whatever. Been there, done that.

Of course, the same number of roommates in, say, North Dakota would get your rent down to 100 a month or sumpthin'...

I've been to Texas, and no offense, I never ever want to go back! Texas is... well, 'Big on Texas'. It's a bit too much of a hunting, meat-eating, right-wing, humid state for me. I am a left-wing, vegetarian, hippy who needs dry air, lots of rock & eletronic music, a great club scene, new age shops and snow, water and desert all within 1 hour of one another :)

I did enjoy the Riverwalk in San Antonio though, but I was drunk most of the time...

Once you get use to a place you don't want to move. The houses here in San Francisco is so expensive that I know I will never own a house here, but home is where the heart is.

Sounds like Austin, sans the dry air - we have an airport for snow access :)
