I havent been out shooting since new years day, and its driving me nuts! This rain wont go away, at least if it were snow I could go out and shoot and make it worth while. ARGH.

Well, at least I can keep myself busy matting 30+ pictures this weekend :-\

I know what you mean. Rain and flooding. Most of the fields around here look like lakes. The Ohio River area (Cinn) is looking pretty bad!

Same in NJ. Constant rain. We were supposed to get an ice storm last night into this morning, but instead it's just raining. I was hoping to go out and get some nice freezing rain pictures of the trees but can't go out at all. I did manage to get out briefly yesterday to get a couple ice shots.

Instead I'm sitting in a warm house with hot chocolate, so I can't complain one bit.

Don't want to instill jealousy but woke up to this today in western Washington.

Just go out and shoot in the rain. You could come back with some surprising results.

Our one inch of snow last night turned into six inches. Can I do Bokeh with an all white background?

Terry,

The Grand Canyon is an outdoor photographer's paridise. Not only rather big but it can show so many different faces. I envy you being there. That's a long way from Millersville though.

Nothing wrong with the rain. Things will look a little different then when the suns out. Everything looks shiny :)

Show-offs! ;)

I'm trying to make excuses, already, for the bokeh challenge. You know, I would have done something great but it rained and rained and rained.

Don't want to instill jealousy either, but that's La Jolla, CA two days ago (it is raining today, though)

It is raining like crazy right now. I ran an errand earlier today and caught the first downpour as I was coming out of the grocery store. Just a few minutes ago I had to turn the TV up to hear the dialog because of the deafening din of the rain on the roof.

*frowns* I live in Southern California. It's not supposed to rain here but it has been for at least the past week and only stopped for 1 day! I was supposed to go do a photoshoot with my friend to get pics ofr Movie Titles and Bokeh...but I'm not feeling well and going out in the cold and rain while sick is a bad idea. Cause otherwise I think I woulda tried it just cause I haven't before...

That's not bad at all. I can deal with that in the summertime but it is only supposed to be a dream in winter.

Jeremy,

Cut a hole for the lens in the bottom of a 1-gallon ziploc baggie. Works dandy.

Embrace the rain! Just don't get your camera wet.

Both of these were taken tonight, in normally-sunny Santa Monica, CA.

I'm also going crazy in SoakedCal. Have the weather-sealed lens but not the body.

Here's a suggestion for ya though. Go to a farm supply store (feed stores might have 'em too) and ask for o.b. palpation gloves. Veterinarians use them on large animals, gloved hand at one end, they go clear up to the armpit. Cut the hand off at the wrist or higher if you have a big lens w/hood, and you have a nifty lens AND body cover. These things are cheap, and disposable (obviously). They're available mail order too, in case you aren't close to a dairy or farm supply. Here's a link.

$1.85 for 10, $10.85 for 100! They're clear plastic, and nobody will know...

I agree with Jeremy, I hate the rain. It has been raining all day to day and we have been stuck in the house, yuk.

If it must rain it should rain at night.
