A blade of grass, a bird, water, trees, you name it... would be an interesting challenge. Everyone has something natural around them, no matter where they live.

Sounds great to me. And if it could be in the natural environment, rather than the studio. I get tired of all the studio shots here. (On the other hand, mostly snow outside ;)

Something natural? I'd almost have to go outside. Can we please make this an Advanced Rules challenge so I can set something up in my studio and use photoshop to make it look natural?

How about "Natural Things in Natural Light"? That'll kill Coolhar's bid to never leave his studio. Though I suppose if he has a skylight he could bring in a potted shrub or something.

Is it natural for shrubs to be potted?

Cool,

That's a huge philosophical question. In one sense, since we (human beings) are a part of nature, anything we do is "natural", right? So by that standard a skyscraper is "natural."

Does it help if the shrub grew from a seed in the pot, and never has known any other life? Then it's "natural" to the shrub, LOL.

This all falls in the category of navel-gazing (my reply above, that is, not your question) so forgive me please...

Just for the record... I like ccraft's idea for a Something Natural challenge. But it is a fairly big topic, leaving lots of room for discussions/arguements about what meets the topic. There was a challenge called "Without the Hand of Man" back before I got here. Maybe we could revisit that one. Details were "Photograph a subject that shows NO signs of human intervention. Good luck." I hope this is within what ccraft intended.

Natural...the old philosophical question. But not even getting into that, I took these photos inside without chilling a single cell. These are of frost that forms on my windows, here in northern Vermont for six months of the year. My secret is the sunrise directly behind the windows. To go outside opens a whole other wonderful world.
