I would like to take the time to enjoy this moment before it passes by, to breathe deeply, and to just love being a mommy as I watch my children play with their new toys that Santa has brought them. During this moment, however, I also ponder the following...

Why in the name of all that does not suck does every freaking toy have to be wired into it's $*#*@*%! packaging with 7,248 little wires or plastic fasteners?????? I understand it prevents shoplifting but ay yi yi!!!!

I now return you to your regularly scheduled Christmas morning.

Yep. I don't know why either. And I get to do it again on maonday, my son's burthday.

Now I am trying to figure how to sell off his toys to add to my rebel fund ...(evil dad grin). Not all his toys, just the $150 in leagfrog stuff...

I got nothing material for Xmas..was saving for a Bogen 3021 Pro, but dicedied to save a bit longer and get a Rebel.

Merry Xmas to all.

Dont put the toys in the church yard sale - the kids will just buy them back.

You are doing great if you got to the little wires. My little boy got a set of electronic drum sticks that we could not get through the dang plastic wrapping...of course once we did get through the plastic then came the wires.

Those little wire ties should be no match for a skilled Jedi and his lighstsaber...........

I have a good solution for getting toys out of the packaging, but it involves a chainsaw.

fingers are still numb from the wires, I was having my own personal rant this morning. I enjoyed finding that others out there are suffering as well. Thanks.

I re-use all those twist-ties for bundling computer cables and the like -- those stiff plastic-coated ones are better than the paper ones from the supermarket.

I almost suffered serious injury getting my new battery charger out of the blister-pack -- I maybe we can all send that stuff to Iraq to help out with the armor shortage.

I let my husband do the wires. We feel your pain. Thousands of them. Thousands and thousands, maybe millions, on their way to the landfills tomorrow.

Reckon they could be considered mechanical??????

:-)

For those of you who have soldering irons, use them to open the bubble packs. It's a breeze. Use an old tip.

I was talking about the same thing to my husband today....Poor kids cannot wait to get the toys out to play and it takes forever to do it!

Must be a better way!

And don't get me started on the Plastic Packs!text

Doesn't that release some rather toxic vapors? I use a box-cutter ...

Aaah - this is my kind of moan!! ; )

Never have I experienced so much anger, frustration, politically-incorrect resentment and utter dismay at removing even the simples toy from its containment. How much longer must it take to pack them and I wonder what poor lowly paid individual is forced to do it.

Bloody madness. But Happy Christmas anyway.

And if it's not too late then check these stats out and apply them to where you live...

Great rant I may add! Yep the last 2 years luckily for me I have had the kids papa and nanny here to help cut the ties and loosen the stuff then put together screws, build the train tracks that come with 100 or more so of pieces all that great fun christmas stuff. Its defanetly a pain in the &^**^SS!

Hey someone could start a business for parents that dont want to hassel with the toy unpackaging. Service would be taking toys apart and putting them together and wrapping them then they would be ready free:)
How much would you pay for a service like this and would it be worth it?

My wife (the smart one in this relationship) made me (for want of a better term) remove the wires before she did the wrapping last night. ;)

I'm SOOOO glad I'm not the only one who feels this way! LOL

I've lost every fingernail, my fingertips are battered and sore, and my wire cutters, scissors, and nail clippers are all out of commission now. I think I've picked up all the stray wires that have flown around today, but they're kind of like Easter grass...I'll be finding bits and pieces and/or vaccuuming them up for the next 6 months I'm sure. That is a good idea tolovemoon...I'd be willing to pay to have someone do all that for me for sure. I have no idea what you would charge but this morning I'd have traded my soul I think! :o)

If nothing else, I hope you got a chuckle at the fact that we aren't alone in our little corner of parental "Santa" hell! :o)

Next year, go to Michael's or Hobby Lobby or other local craft store. Buy a "crafters tool kit". It usually includes a pair of diagonal wire cutters, small screwdrivers (straight and phillips for eyeglass size), and a sharp craft knife (xacto) along with various beads, screws and other spare parts. Probably about $10 or so. The wire cutters are suitable for just about any cutting except string, and the craft knife or regular scissors will take care of that. The screwdrivers are for opening the little bitty screws on battery comparments. The Challenge is remembering to purchase said kit or keeping track of it until needed next Christmas.

They are supposed to be there partly to reduce shrinkage but primarily so the product doesn't get damaged. Of course we spent quite a bit of time on a dancing Alvin the Chipmunk and after all the effort of getting him out of the package he wouldn't dance. :(

A blessing in disguise?!

(They even truss up solid plastic, robust dinosaurs though)

ok I can now add more to this rant. We had a house full yesterday so we were able to put off my little boy on putting together his Knex Farris Wheel. This thing is suppose to be for ages 8 and up...well it took Mom and Dad over 3 hours to put it all together this morning. But I'm sure it could take less than a minute to destroy it.
