Aaron Brothers had a big sale (not sure if they're nationwide or not, but they're certainly all over California) around thanksgiving and I nabbed a few frames.. really good quality, too. i think i got my 16x20, 8x10 and 24x30 for a grand total of about $50 - all wooden and nice looking.

I get most of my frames at Michaels craft store, I think they might be national. They have a nice selection of premade standard size frames but also do custom framing which isn't cheap. They always have frame sales so you can get some good deals.

I have been very satisfied with the frames I get from American Frame. Try out their applet that lets you build a custom frame from scratch; it's pretty cool. I think the prices are very reasonable as well.

I have ordered from them three or four times and have been constantly impressed.

Ditto on the American Frame online shop. I have had great luck with them. Don't buy your glass online though. Get it at your local hardware store. They will cut it for you to whatever size you need.

I have been purchasing American Frame's no-glare plexiglass and have really liked it - I don't see any distortion and it is very, very light.

I'm not a big fan of plexi, but its certainly a reasonable solution.

You can get 2 11X14 frames at Costco for $16.

I have purchased about ten frames from //www.framesbymail.com which seems to be a great deal. It is very inexpensive and you get the option of choosing a large variety of styles (i.e. metal, wood, plastic). You also get to specify the size (which is great because I just framed a large panorama). You can also include things like different mats and backings. I would highly recommend it!

The Aaron Brothers nearest me is a huge waste of time. Even more so during the sales. It's like visiting frame hell where all the bad frames go to die. I swear at least half of them are damaged. The other half are just mixed together in a jumble so you have to go picking through the mess. I've completely given up on Aaron Brothers.

there's some good frames at kohl's, sometimes wal-mart... usually i go to Michael's (it's a craft store here) and they have good prices on cheaper frames.

I checked the on-line yellow pages, and there is a national chain craft store, AC Moore, near you (Town Square Mall, 2433 Vestal Pkwy East, 607-797-1144). They typically have a selection equivalent to Michael's, which other people mentioned above. Good Luck.

I am not sure where you are located, with that said...

In Michigan, there is a store called Meijer's, it's one of those larger Grocery and Everything Else stores. They have a Picture Frame department and they have some of the best looking Plain Wooden at extremely reasonable prices that I have seen.

If I am recalling correctly here are some prices...

4x6 - $4.99

5x7 - $6.99

8x10 - $9.99

Another good place to look is Target retail stores. They also have decent quality and good looking frames available for affordable prices, just a tad higher then the prices at Meijer's.

All in all the quality and look of the frames at Meijer's and Target and head, shoulders and upper torso above the "Gollum Crafted" Detritus sold at Wal-Mart, which is the only place I know to obtain extremely cheap frames.

I second that. Target often has frames worth considering, much better than WalMart's frames.
