Well Danny, Julie, My Wife and I all made it through the Dallas Trans-Siberian Orchestra Concert (With no camera!) :)

The concert was great! and so was the light show and fireworks.

We even had a fire drill during the concert!

Someone was smoking in the boys room! All the fire alarm strobes and sirens went off during the show :) Then come to find out it was a false alarm. Everyone thought that the fire alarm strobes were a part of the show.

The private suite was great! After wards my wife and I bought a program and got to go meet all the band members and got their autographs.

But! I still felt lost without my camera :)

EddyG I Hope you have as great a time when you go :) Didn't you say you were going on the 16th?

Edit Notes:

Anna Phoebe - Lead violin was truly amazing. I never saw anyone play like she did!

Jill Gioia, Kristin Lewis Gorman and Stephanie Linn were outstanding with the vocals!

And the guys were great also. Someone kept looking at the girls through the binoculars that were available in the suite :) But I won't mention any names LOL

Wow... that is cool that you got to meet some of the TSO band members!

I have tickets for their show on the 17th and can hardly wait... although I'll just be there as a regular old fan, in regular old seats... no VIP suite like you got.

So what was the overall reaction to the concert from all of those that went? Not being big fans of TSO prior to this, I'm curious what everyone thought...

(Thanks for remembering to post a follow-up about your experience, 'cause I was curious...)

We arrived early and were in the suite around 7:15pm or so. The arena filled slowly and we almost thought it was "not" going to be a sell out. The TSO concert was to began at 8:00pm. By the time the concert started I think the seating was 99% full.

They did note that $1.00 of every ticket sale went to the Children's Wish Foundation and that the Dallas crowd had raised the most money so far.

The crowd in Dallas gave them a great welcome and numerous standing ovations.

The overall setting in the Arena was very dark with the exception of the colored stage lights and the constant mist/fog coming off the stage. It was so dark that if you got up to try and leave the suite you almost needed a flashlight to see. The overall feeling was warm and you felt like you were living inside one of the TSO videos.

Along with the laser lighting and etc they had I believe at times artifical snow blowing through the air and the twinkle it created in the laser lights was magical.

When TSO started into Christmas Eve-Sarajevo the crowd just went wild! You could not hear yourself think.

While out in the walkway we heard numerous people discussing the concert and they all commented numerous times that they hoped TSO would play Beethoven's Last Night. And so when they started into Beethoven's Last Night it was the same response the crowd just went wild.

I think it was during Beethoven's Last Night that Anna Phoebe - Lead violinist went crazy! She played that violin so hard and perfect it just took your breath away.

Once the concert had started I did not notice one empty seat in the arena with the exception of the area behind the stage that was blocked off. Also I did notice that even the small children were very comfortable and everyone stayed right up till the end.

What can I say this concert is something everyone should see. It builds such a warm and caring Christmas feeling inside you.

At one point everyone thought it was over and a few were leaving. But after a long standing ovation they came back and played I think 2 more selections.

Well I could go on forever :) But these are just a few of my comments from a night that we all enjoyed so much.

It was great! Had a really good time and thoroughly enjoyed seeing TSO (East) again. Already looking forward to next year, and their new album -- "Nightcastle" I think they said before they played "Carmina Burana", which is going to be on that album.

(Sorry for not replying sooner, I was pretty much off-line the entire weekend... busy time of the year!)

Reading all these rave reviews here concerning the Trans-Siberian Orchestra has me kind of intrigued; I would like to hear some of their music. However, I have NOT been able to find any of their CD's in any stores. Where would one look; under rock/pop, Christmas, new age, perhaps even classical?

I have never heard their music before, so just as a frame of reference how does their music compare with that of Manheim Steamroller?

You can go here: Trans-Siberian Orchestra

We bought our trilogy set at Best Buy it came with a great DVD concert video also.

I ordered the Beethoven CD from Walmart On-Line.

There are a number of sites you can buy and download on-line also, I believe iTunes has their CD for downloading.

Never actually listened to them, but I received it as a special at CD Universe. The Christmas Trilogy is on sale for $38.09

Actually if you are a AAA (Automobile Association of America) member you get a pretty good discount at Barnes and Nobles (on-line only). I got the Trilogy + DVD for 31.34 shipped. It is a pretty sweet deal.
