when i try to take some pictures, my photos end up grainy and dull. usually this happens outside, but sometimes inside as well. what im doing is taking pictures of various parts of my car to catalogue my progression. i really need them to be more clear than what im getting. i dont know if its a setting i am changing, one that i should be changing, or what. i will upload a sample picture when i get home

not enough light ? Does you camera have an 'ISO' setting ? If so
you want it as low as possible to minimise the noise

yeah check your ISO setting. i usually keep mine at 80 or auto depending on what i'm doing. do you have a tripod? if so use that. that way you will minimize camera movement if you have to use a longer exposure.
