Hi,
Has anybody been using the olympus c-765? I am interested in it cuz it is 4mp and 10x optical zoom. Going price is low 300's. Would anyone recommend something else with those characteristics?

Hi Steve,
Can't vouch for the camera personally, but you can see members' pictures here on the site that use the 765:
Olympus C-765UZ
and the users of that camera are:
(clicking on the 22 on the first link above)
C-765UZ Owners
DPC has all this in it's database and any camera used/listed can be found:
Cameras Home
Hope this helps.

I had the C-720. Great zoom. Horrible optics. Sucked at focus in any type of medium-low light. Crap macro. Otherwise a solid camera. ;)

Kodak DX-6490...absolutely...same price range, same 10x zoom, 4.2mp, and absolutely wonderful for a point and shoot. I adore mine! :o)

I have been using the C-750 for almost a year. It is a great camera. Lots of manual settings to play with.
Strengths:
picture quality
easy to use
Did I mention the 10x zoom
battery life is good, but not great
takes good night shots
Weaknesses:
poor low light focusing
lots of noise at high ISO settings
shutter lag
over all it is a great camera if you can live with its shortcomings. |

It was a contender when I bought my Canon S1. I chose the canon because it uses CF cards, the noise wasn't as bad, the colors seemed better and the fold out screen. The c765 is still a great camera if you already have their memory cards. I think I liked the C750 better then the c765 for some reason, and it came with a remote.
