wow. that's depressing. you shouldn't be ashamed unless you are responsible. someone is. they should be.

Well, I am ashamed of my government. In less than 200 years this dam will be useless, and this landscape forever lost.

I am so sad to hear this.. but I am glad you shared it with us. How beautiful the photos are, and how vividly they show the area.
It is not just a loss to Iceland, but to our Earth.
I signed the protest. I am sorry it is too late :0(

Very sad! The Ontario gov is doing the same thing in Perth. Allowing companies to take large %water from the Taye River and not put anything back. Leave it to government to ruin our environment for us!

Well, it looks like a perfect place for a dam to me. Think of all the clean hydroelectric power that will be produced. And all the fish and the fresh water supply. Had you rather have nuclear powerplants? I have one of those within 50mi of my home and business. Just one accident and......I had much rather have more dams. What fools we have been. Humans have built dams for thousands of years without too much negetive impact on Earth. We been messin with nuclear for about 60 years now and just look what we've done.
btw, There would be no need for much of this 'progress' if the breeding was curtailed, but, "Oh no, we can't tell people how many children to have.". Let the idiots breed too, and the dope heads and the criminals. Ever see someone with 6-8 children, or more, and no job or husband? See a problem here? Think for a minute what life would be like without governments and big business. You wouldn't be a takin pitchers I bet.

I live in Iceland and I'm not ashamed!! We need to live, there is not enough fish in the sea and we have been building dam here to get
electricity for home and work. In Iceland the water is not a problem it almost rain here every day (",).
These people that are complaining about the building of the dam are mostly actors, painters and others artisted, that have nothing else to do than complain about everything..
People should not belive everything that it see's, not all will be satisfy. I don't belive that this great website should not be used as an political weapon!!
That's about all!

As they say, there are two sides to everything.. It is just a shame we as a global people have not valued our resources enough to have been able to have the fish, power, and the natural environment too.
I doubt we will ever learn how to make it all happen.

Talk about generalsations! I guess I could say that everybody who who is with this project are just people who walue everything by the penny and only take plesure in how much money they have in their bank account? What are you doing here, my friend?
And you should read the text on that great website as your self call it, the first line reads "The land that will be destroyed". So I will bet that the author of that website would agree.
Have you been there? I have. It is unique place. Like nothing else. But I guess we should just value our land how much we can sell it for, not enjoy it.
And have you thought about why it is profitable for Alcoa to ship Baxite over half the planet, refine it here, and then move it back? Could it possibly be that we are basically giving them free energy? I don't get it why people think this is such a good idea.
(sorry for the late reply)
