Here I am in Peoria Arizona, right near Phoenix. It would be fun to get together with you fine AZ photogs, perhaps on Tuesday, when I have a free day and no rain. Who's game?

COUNT US IN! My husband and I would love to meet up with you. We're on the opposite side of the valley though (from Peoria) and we wouldn't be able to get together until late afternoon/early evening because of work.

Sounds fun. I hope you get off work before it gets dark . . .

I'm relatively unfamiliar with the area, though I understand that Lost Dutchman State Park is kinda cool (well, in winter, anyway!), and there is a special Apache Scenic Drive of some kind that has lots of opps for short and long hiking, old mining town, and other nifty things.

Wednesday might work, too, and Monday (but it'll be raining on Monday).

Ouch , would've liked to make this one ! Is White tanks a good suggestion ?

There is a street called Apache Trail and that winds past the Superstitions and eventually takes you by Canyon and Apache Lake and continues on from there. Driving that would be an all day thing, especially stopping for pictures. There are definately a lot of photo opps. That road, right before you get to Lost Dutchman State Park, takes you past the Goldfield Ghost town, which my husband refers to as a photography goldmine.

We live about 20 minutes from Lost Dutchman State Park - that would be a good place to meet up. The superstition mountains are quite beautiful, and a great place to try catching sunset photos. We could be available to meet there between about 3:30 and 4:00 on Tuesday or Wednesday....

This would be great. Any west-facing cliffs for the sunset glow? I've also pmed you.

Yep - Superstition Mountains, in all of their majestic glory, face West :-)

Oh I wish I had seen this sooner. I just got back from that area, took my daughter and her friends on Saturday. Please let me know when you plan any further photo trips in the Phoenix area.

Clubjuggle will be visiting me here in Phoenix the first week of January, perhaps we can plan something then?

I would love that Barbara ... it would be great to meet you in person and ClubJuggle! :-)

Please keep me posted on dates so I can be sure we have some time for a get together.

I took my daughter and 2 of her friends to Goldfield on Saturday. One of the tours we took was the Bordello. It was hilarious to see the tour guide try to keep it G rated for the kids sake :-D

Hi David, etc all...

Barbara, Tina, kreybar and anyone else around. If we can get together with David while he is here that would be terrific.

David, I will call you later today and we can talk it more. Tina had to point out to me that you sent me an unread email! :) Definitely want to get together.

The Superstition Mountains have the best West facing cliffs you will see anywhere, very majestic view, so if you want to come out this way you will not be disappointed.

Just last night I was at the Supes hoping for a sliver of sunlight to eluminate(sp?) the mountains but not the dark dramatic clouds behind it. I didn't get that, but did capture some nice sunray shots so it was not a waste. :)

Hope to see folks on Tuesday.

The only thing arguably better then sunset on the western edge of the supes (and easy to get to) is sunset in the Coffee Flats area on the southern edge of the Supes. The enitre area glows with a gold color, turning to orange, red, purple, then darkness over the course of about 30 minutes. i'd suggest doing it on a night with a full moon and hike out under moon light.
Also: It's pretty cool out now, it's been raining on and off, and the mountain has been under the clouds all day. There is a good chance it will be snow peaked tomorrow. If not the superstions, 4 peaks (just north of the supes) is 2000' higher and will most likely be snow peaked.
Hope the rain and clouds go away by Tuesday...

OK, you guys are REALLY making me miss Arizona (moved from Tucson about 4 years ago). :-( Please take lots of photos and be sure to post them. I could use a good dose of the desert right now.

Anyone interested: we're meeting at Goldfield (parking lot) on Tuesday (tomorrow) at 3 pm and then in Lost Dutchman State Park at 4:30 (don't know exactly where yet).

I'm the goofy looking guy with the beard. I'll probably have my denim shirt on.

See you there!

My husband and I hope to be there! It will be a great time...

Siphon Draw trailhead in Lost Dutchman is where you are going to want to go so that is a good place to meet. Once in the park, keep a close eye on the signs and you'll find it. Bring your hiking shoes...

Man you guys are making me feel left-out. I would love to come but I'm in NM right now. I'll be driving home for Thanksgiving Wed morning. I'll be looking forward to seeing some of your shots!

Dont forget Four Peaks, it may have even gotten some snow. Crown King is kind of interesting. There is an area on the way to Payson with sycamore trees that is cool this time of year too.

Shoot. I have to work tomorrow. We expect a report on how it was.

I'm planning of going to F1 Race Factory on Weds. I was invited by a friend. Sounds like a good chance to use my new camera. I hope they will let me take some shots.

Brian (Ziessman)... nice to hear from you and look forward to seeing more images from you on DPC. Us East Valley (PHX area) folks have to stick together. :)
